The Myth
APC Petit Standard
I was a little puzzled why the APC Petit Standard didn't have its own thread, so I'm going to start one now. I just ordered myself a pair of these after trying to get a hold of them for several months, and now they're on their way.
I actually had quite a difficult time getting a hold on these online, not that there's any shortage of vendors- it just seems like everyone's always sold out of them, and they seem to sell out incredibly quickly. therefore, i figure there must be enough interest out there to warrant giving these jeans their own thread.
i'll give updates when mine arrive, but i'd be curious to hear others' opinions on these, because information on them seems to be quite thin on the ground, except for the ubiquitious 'slimmer new standard'.
i ordered mine in 28, which is the same size as my new standard, which is to say sized down in the customary fashion for a.p.c.- true waist 31.

I too just ordered a pair, I took a size 28 and I'm size 30, probably should have sized down one more but we'll see when they get here.

The Myth
^ although i can't say for sure, i think you'll probably be ok with a 28, they're a pretty slim fit. i get the impression that a lot of people size down drastically for the new standard to try and get a slim fit from a fairly regular fit, so i don't think anyone would be sizing down 4+ sizes for these. i tried on a pair of petits a few months ago in sydney in a size 29 and they were fine, but i do sometimes wish i'd sized down further on my new standards.

righto, we're rollin'! my petit standards just arrived in the mail today, beyond any expectation. thanks to kiosk78.co.uk- vat-free, well-priced, with a discount code, on top of which dealing in uk pounds, all of which added up equals a significant discount on what i'd pay for retail here. on top of all else, these were on my doorstep within 3 working days, which is mightily impressive considering they were shipped from the uk to australia. kudos and highest recommendations to this site!
as for the jeans themselves, i am very impressed with these, although there are no drastic surprises- they really are a slimmer, lower version of the ns, denim-wise and colour-wise- my girlfriend couldn't tell the difference at first when they came out of the packet. 'they're exactly the same'
as for the fit- yes, all the same ns rules still apply to the petit, my 28 fits just like it does in the ns, which is to say- just. they were quite tricky at first to get into, because the denim is pretty rigid and the slim fit makes for a challenge getting your legs through- i wouldn't recommend sizing down drastically for these, but bear in mind that the vanity tags and stretching mean you will probably want to drop 2-3 sizes from your true waist size. even still, i could feel it loosening out within a half an hour to a comfortable tightness.
as for the cut itself, it is quite slim all the way down. not much more i can give you just yet, i will post pics when i get a hold of a decent camera.

Is the leg tapered from the knee to the hem on the PS?
-
I might have to buy these once I m done with my NC
-
The Myth
yes it is tapered but not too much, since the thigh and knee are fairly slim to start with
