    Levi's 501 STF 2010

There seems to be interest! I've contacted BlueOctoberFan and Bilmaga regarding contest moderation. With the 1st of December drawing close (like, tomorrow)...I thought I'd start a thread. I have no experience with anything like this, so I will defer to them. However, I know several people have an interest, and a month's time seems like the bare minimum you guys should have for a notice.

Let's see who's down for it, and how a prize or prizes will be arranged.

    Preliminary rules?

    1. Start date February 1, 2010. Pics to be taken with BNWT jeans against the day's newspaper or internet news screen, the date clearly visible. I repeat, Brand New With Tag. Since January 31st is conveniently a Sunday, it will be allowed as a start date.
    2. No alterations except basic hemming.
    3. Monthly updates, due by the 15th of each month. Delays are acceptable if there is a clear history and intent to continue the contest.
    4. Jeans must be of current production stock, basically the printed 501 tag must be present inside the waistband. The picture below shows that new tag.

    5. This contest will be an unlimited free-for-all of finishes. Any bnwt shrink-to-fit 501, with the current production tags, is welcome.
    6. Prizes to be independently organized by way of a $10 entry fee. More info to come.

    Go!

Contestants (This is a tentative list, as the contest will require an entry fee. The list will be finalized when the poll is closed and entry fees begin to be collected.)

Teal footnote is the vote of a private contestant poll, the final word on the finish to be used. Public polls are fun, but these are the people who will be wearing the jeans!

UPDATE: The private poll has been closed. The decision is to have an unlimited free-for-all.

Are there any newspapers on New Years Day?

And is someone going to proxy for people in Europe?

You can make a pic with a new pair on the 1st, but started with another pair earlier. So maybe participants need to sign their pair with a letter or something which is announced a few days before start.

I think there are newspapers every day. timeanddate.com would actually work in any case. It wouldn't be a bad idea to mark the jeans somehow, a pocketbag maybe.

I know someone willing to sell overseas (for a contest, not mass sales), as long as wire transfer is used.

or as suggested much much earlier in preparation for the 501 contest going on right now, how about if people ripped off the "leather-like" patch so it fades with the rest of the jean? If someone cheats and uses a "replacement" pair, it would be obvious if the patch was on for months/years as it would show little to no fading where the patch covered the denim
Levi's 501 STF Indigo 121 Days of wear (as of 5-28-09) lost track but add ~7 wears on top of that as of 6-15-09
Initial hot soak: 1-2-09 First hot wash/hot dry: 5-19-09
