Wearing them ripped

What do you do with your ripped jeans ?

  1. Go on wearing them, unrepaired. Provocation is good!

    88.5%
  2. Go on wearing them, but repaired. Privacy is good!

    9.4%
  3. Stop wearing them. When they're too torn, they're only good as a memory.

    1.8%
  4. Throw them away. When they're gone, they have to go.

    0.3%

    Hey jeans guys-

it occurred to me when I saw two good books on punk rock today (with lots of ripped denim! 8) ), plus the "when do you toss 'em" thread on our forum here: who likes to go on wearing them when they start to rip? Where do you draw the line?

I personally think that ripped and torn jeans are the most precious, cool, and sexy jeans. A fade is nice obviously, but a rip is the advanced version of a fade, no? Most often it is a memory of the moment when the tear occurred.

Of course I do not "expose" myself indecently, wearing my jeans always on the skin without underwear, so crotch rips that get too large call for repair or retiring them. But I do'nt find there's anything wrong with knees, thighs, or even a not too large piece of ass showing through a hole. Frankly, I like the provocative effect of it, and I think it also shows that denim is more than just a fabric for you (or else, that you cannot afford new jeans....)

Very eager to hear your comments! :)

It depends on how large the rip is and the area, small rips are cool imo, but i don't like big rips very much.
Then i'd get them fixed and go on wearing them till they fall apart, it would be no reason not to wear them!

I also agree with leaving them ripped, but only if the rip isn't a gaping hole in the crotch

I ALLWAYS mess up the cuffs of my BB. They touch the floor constantly. I just walked in the office here, and down the street I ripped a cuff... There is a hole now from 10cm X 10cm...

I'll need some donordenim... I'm thinking of using my BB-bag. You know the bag that you get when you buy a BB. Together with the repairkit.

The denim of my repair kit is allready used so...

What should I do: cut the bag in pieces? It's not that much of a 'bag', more a sack with a rope to close it. Like a garbagebag-fit.

Shall I go for it???? :?:

I WILL fix them, my problem is only that I will have to destroy my Nudie-bag for that...

I have a pice of denim I can use, but that is very cheap and thin. More just blue cotton and not real 'denim'.

The bag is the perfect garment... but than the bag is gone...

Why don't you email Nudie and ask for some denim?

They'll send it to your house for free, so its all good :)

The bag is made out of the same denim as the BB. So it's REAL denim for sure...

I could ask Nudie for some denim, but has anyone experience with that? Like: I need a BIG piece cuz bij rip just got bigger... And if they send me the pices like they put in the repair-kit that wouldn't do for me. Those pieces are too small for my rips.

Well: the rips is more of a hole now. Left leg. The right one is about to go the same way... :( Well I'll send them an email with these questions...

I sent Nudie an email to ask for donor-denim to fix my jeans and they just sent me their answer: free denim on the way!!!

Plus Emil from Nudie gave me some advice: wash the donordenim before you patch your jeans because it might shrink!

YESSSSSS!!!Now waiting for the mail to arrive!!!

Fascinating read, thanks to everyone who wrote!

I am very eager to see those pics from Sebasz  ...

...and pleased about the share of people wearing their jeans unrepaired, a minority to be sure, but a sizeable one, and for me, those are the guys with true denim spirit.

To the one person who answered the poll with "throw them away". I am not going to argue with you, I am begging!!!! Can I please PLEASE have those jeans that you throw away? I'll very gladly reimburse any postage. I really love nothing more than heavily thrashed jeans, and in the worst case, they are the best "donor denim" that can be, namely genuinely worn in and faded.

Out of my, still very intact RRDS,

    Nick :)

I received my donor-denim within 48 hours! I have the garment of the RRDS. But I'll patch it on my BB.

I have BIG pieces of denim! I mailed Nudie that the pieces I needed had to be bigger than the ones in the repair kit. They're just too small for my holes... :D

Sorry, but that is so clich?!

Besides that, of course, there is nothing whatsoever wrong with being gay, and surely many denim devotees are gay, it is also simply wrong.

I know of rockers, punks, and other positively straight people who have worn their jeans ripped at crotch and/or ass, with and without underwear. How about broaden your minds  :!: ?
