People are already thinking of possible ways "other people" could cheat. Hmmm, think I will stick with the Denime XX contest.

who cares if people cheat . isnt it about the spirt of the fun and seeing the progress and process of other peoples jeans . sure you want to win , but if someone cheats then down the road they will get the payback . you cant just never do anything because of what others might do . i mean what do you have to lose ?

I agree with that. If people cheat in a dry crocking contest, they only cheat themselves. Don't care about it. It's just human nature that everybody lies, so I don't mind.

Dr House! are you thinking of wearing a pair of Svens Selvage for this? I was considering it too..
I was thinking of just that. I like the Jim or Sven cuts.. Wish that had the ESBB denim in a Jim..

Totally living up to your name, House. You have the cynicism, all you need now is the MD and vicodin habit

Yeah man, a straight sven in dry selvage or a slim jim dry japan or organic dry ecru emb. Those are my favourites if the contest rules allow them.

Hehe, but I have got only a denim habit...

Turns out you were right. I spoke to a guy from Nudie in Norway a couple of days ago, he was surprised I knew about the contest already. He said you have to buy your jeans on or after July 1., and take a picture with the receipt or something to prove it wasn't bought before the contest started. He also said you could buy whatever dry Nudie you wanted. And as we all know already, you have to sign up on the webpage and upload progress pics as the contest goes along.

Cool... so if thats true, its really a fun/casual kinda contest. Which makes sense, as we can safely assume not everyone takes their jeans as seriously as all of us devotees here :)

Here's hoping we have some winners from mynudies.com anyway!

Dry Japans fade really fast, but they dont get an "all-over" drastic fade like you can get with selvage. You get localized electric-blue fades at first and then they get progresive lighter in the center, but you probably won't end up with a mostly-white thigh or a light-blue overall, especially not in 7-10 months or whatever the contest is exactly.

Here's a pic of my SJDJ after 1 wash at 10 months for reference. I wore these every day and was walking/partying in them a good bit back then since I was still in school and lived off-campus, but only about a mile and a half away.

I'm sure this isn't the maximum amount of fading you could get on these in that time frame, but I think it's a pretty good indication of an average case.
