Nothing wrong with that, but you asked for opinions and you got them. Easy as that. Even if you can't compare Samurai and Nudie at all, it's true that one can wash jeans regularly and still get fades in a certain way, but to those who prefer high contrast/ sharp fades (and I am one of them) it is a good advice, to hold out the first wash as long as possible. Of course, you will get fades when you wear them after the first wash, but the more often you wash the harder it is for creases and combs to settle.
What most guys meant, is that you were on a good way to get great fades, and now maybe get a more washed out pair. But it's all personal taste.
Plus, I never suffered from smell in my jeans before ~6 months, despite livegigs. It airs and wears out over time.

The jeans never smelled when I wasn't wearing them, but add any little bit of moisture from sweat and they got pretty rank. They were literally soaked in sweat from the last concert I went to. I couldn't imagine wearing them in class, especially if it got warm and they started smelling lmao

And you're right haha I guess I got what I asked for ;)

I want a new pair though! And make these ones my beater pants. So maybe I can see how far I can get with the new pair.
Not sure I want nudies though... cause I have a feeling I'm just going to end up with slim jims again haha

Just so you know, some girls if not many, find guys with unique funky odors attractive. Stop worrying too much I guess and just wear them.

In fact I know people, who loves the smell of hard worn raw denim stuff, so everybody shall use them for his best comfort.

With a lot of fresh air I never faced any smell or odor troubles so far except after downgrading them as 3. class jeans using them for dirty jobs out in the forest or for greasy repairing jobs. But this doesn't matter anybody since those pants will stay outside my living room till they are so completely f***ed up that they're ready for retirenment in the Jeansmuseum. And those pants have survived without any water contact during their whole life of heavy use (except some sweat, ev. some raindrops or snow when on ski touring)

Haha, I like this. A class system for dirty raw denim :p

If only raw denim didn't run around the $200 range for 'entry level' jeans I'd be jumping on the opportunity of another pair

With my 3 class system (office-leisure-work jeans) I can extend the life of my jeans quite for a long time. On the last step as work jeans I don't have to care how bad they're looking so even if in the wildest condition I still can use them in the forest and so on. So I can wait almost 2 years for starting with a new raw denim jeans. This fall I have to downgrade my Denime take 5 contest jeans from 1. to 2. class pants. That's why I'm so sad to miss the Samurai 5 anniversary contest since I really would be ready to start with a new pants there. I was just too late back from some holidays

    1. wear jeans
    2. submerge yourself in sea water
    3. dry while wearing/line dry/flat dry

    you mean like this^
doesn't [that] look ridiculous & insane?
IMO. that's like taking the fun out of the whole break in process.
just get the "hard wash" version, then.

^ IIRC there is a video either from this forum or SuFu showing some guys rubbing sand onto their Nudies, like the guy in that pic.

On a different note: Guys, I'm struggeling here. I have worn my PBJ011's for 3,5 months now and I can hardly stand the smell any more. It's like sickening sweet... Putting it in the freezer for days doesn't do the trick. Tempted to throw it in the washing machine and abort the no-wash-mission. What would you do?

My advice: (I do the same myself, just so yesterday) wear 'em in the bathtub, wash gently by hand while you wear them using Dr. bronner or a mild washing agent. Put them off and let them dry. Refreshens them, keeps the creases and does not shrink them as machine washing. They retain much more indigo as well. Let us plz see some pics...

if you reached that point...a soak (not a real wash) with a bit of detergent could help and hang them outside in fresh air and the sun!!! freezer doesn't do anything at all (ok...maybe it helps for one day)

I abandoned the freezer thing 2 years ago...I had the feeling that the smell came back with a vengeance after some time. But, I must also say, that my latest jeans never smelled as much as my nudies, almost not at all. Maybe because I do rotate at least a bit and choose older pairs for the sweaty things like music & sport.
