I throw them in the machine. 40° and some soap, not too much.

Inside out, 40 or 60 degrees, small amount or no detergent and then hang dry.

    Regular wash:

    • 30 degrees
    • turn inside out
    • less detergent (no bleach or so)
    • short running program
    • inseam stretching
    • hang drying (best in the sun)
    and (hang me ) IRONING.
If I want shrinking I wash 'em at 60 degrees.

    Soaking:

    • cold or handwarm water
    • no detergent, no vinegar, no salt
    • put 'em in a bathtube or bin for 15-30 minutes, move 'em regularly
    • hang drying in the sun
and (hang me again ) IRONING.

    Works perfect for me.

i just hot-soak with salt, hot enough to shrink em back to shape and kill any scrotum-germs that may be lingering about... ;-)

washing machine, hottest water and super gentle. Samurai soap. I have an old washing machine so i can't really change the water temperature. Hang dry in the sun for crispyness.

LoL, never have washing technique, i'm too lazy to do it.. after wore it 6-9month i just throw it to the basket and let my mom wash it.. , and i don't think she use any hot water..

i'm curious also... half batch of detergent? whew..... i fear it would dissolve the jeans itself :p

I think by "half batch" he means half of whatever a normal batch is... half a scoop, detergent dispenser/case, etc..

    well for my jims.

    first was a cold soak.
a big washing tub filled with tap water and ice cubes.

    next was a seawash.

finally was a 40 degree wash with Samurai thunder soap. I've yet to do a 60 degree one... does it really produce stark contrasts?

lol of course its a half scoop rather than half the box. Half a box would not only wash the jeans but half the house as well.

Depends on the jeans and on how much time I have:

My Masas I washed every 4 months or so, hot handwash when I had time, otherwise machine wash, always with a little Ecover detergent.

The samurai bk I handwash, and not very often (only once so far), with a little Bronners, because I think that black jeans don't look very nice when they are looking washed out.

My contest fullcounts get pretty heavy wear riding the bike to work and at work, I washed them for the first time after 3 months and during the summer I will wash them as needed, probably every 3-4-5 weeks. Handwash if I have time, hot machine wash if I don't.

My Kyotos are one wash, I gave them another soak to get some creases out before I started wearing them, and I just gave them another soak last weekend because they were getting sweaty. They are pretty light, colourwise, so I'll try not to wash them too often, probably just handwashes with Bronners.

I have a pair of DJ-501 and Prescott14oz that I don't/can't wear anymore that have never been washed.

Honestly, I am in favor of washing regularly, but I hate the way just washed denim looks and feels. A week of wear after a wash is when I like them most.
