    Hi all,
I'm planning a coin-pouch group buy project (as seen on the SuFu belt thread.)
Please PM or e-mail me if you need (or would like) a coin pouch.
The craftsman is yet undetermined, but I would like to have at least 15 to 20 people interested before I really start pestering workshops :p
The region this time would be Asia (as in the coin pouch will be made there.)

    Hi guys,

Need your help tracking this type of wallet down. Mikecch bought it straight from Japan. I am looking to proxy it.

    http://www.mynudies.com/showthread.php?11490-Crocodile-riders-wallet

I have looked on Rakuten shops and it seems like most of them don't have it or are sold out. I even tried to find some python alternatives, but no luck! Btw, for anybody who has handled both types of leather...any comment on how flimsy they are compared to cattlehide.

    Cheers,

^ Crocs and alligators are not flimsy at all - if you take care of the membrane between the plates (i.e. keep it hydrated and waxed) it will last for years.

Snake skin on the other hand is a different story - I would buy it as an inset in the wallet, not as the covering shell - doesn't last that long with lots of abrasion.

    Hey,

Thanks Mike. I am still on the hunt for your wallet that I missed out on. Was it made by Funny Original? Do you know any other makers who do wallets in croc/python? Yeah, a lot of the python skin wallets I have encountered so far have been cattlehide on the inside. So, hopefully that makes them a little more resilient, but nothing you can do about the abrasion issue. I think I will stick to croc....god if I can find one in Brown. Also, another thing I have noticed is the price variation from different shops...sometimes up to 200 USD without any sales or anything.

    Cheers,

No, mine wasn't a Funny, but they make great stuff.
Brands I can recommend include Funny, Dolce Vita, Calf, Manifold, Round Head, etc...most of the big workshops do.
The price variation in reptilian leather is mostly an indication of type and quality in the Japanese brands, I've found. Cheaper wallets will have Cayman, sea-snake, etc - as opposed to the salt water croc, or python/cobra/diamond back, etc on the more expensive makes.
By inset I mean like this:

Hey, thought I'd share some pics of my wallet. Bought it from Nicholas of Hollow's leather almost 2 years ago.

^ Haha, no details at all.
I don't think there are enough people interested for a project at all.
Only 5 people atm...not looking good

I'd be interested in a nice simple bi-fold group buy ;-)

^ Tried that with Angelos' medium wallets a few months ago - fell through as well, I could only gather 4 people :p

Although if you're interested in a bifold, I'd recommend holding off for a month or so.
There's something special in the works ;-)
I'll post it up when I'm allowed to!

    ohhhh mysterious!!!

Do you sell your special home-brew leather wax btw? All I have is obenaufs which seems a bit excessive for belts/wallets

Now that I'm in Japan and paying for everything in cash, I really need a good coin pouch! Preferably something small that I can connect to a belt loop. I like how the Red Moon and Obbi Good key cases look, does anyone make an affordable coin pouch that looks sort of like that?

I'm kind of mad at myself for not ordering my Hollows wallet with a coin pouch instead of card slots on one side.

^ I would avoid...to me the whole point of RM is their nice crafting of currier finished leather.
The drum-processed stuff of RRC and Mid-line isn't worth the relatively high price (IMO), I would go with another brand in this instance.

^ Hey, I reckon the difference in ageing/evo will be quite noticeable...the grain would certainly look much better with a hand-stuffed leather, and the tone will be less 'tired'.

I guess any of the smaller workshops like Manifold, One's Worker, Dolce Vita, Tenjin, etc could be alternatives

Corter basic bifold, 1 month of use, 2 obenauf oils, few hours of sun

Second pick is from the inside part, somehow that part (both sides) attracts some dirt which quickly comes back after I 'scrape' it away. No idea where it comes from, the outer part dont seem to get it. Anyone knows how to clean it, where it comes from?

Cool! My Hollows wallet is great. I kind of wish I'd waited until I came to Japan and just got a Red Moon instead but there's no doubt this saved me a ton of money.
