I've started to see little bits about a brand called Takumi on various web-sites. I think they look really good, and can't wait to see them in stores. I e-mailed them about distribution, and they'll have some at Famous Friends in NYC, as well as well as a store in Midland Park, NJ, with a full list of distributors going up on their site in August. Cool back-pocket design. Check them out...

I think it's pretty cool and definitely unique. With the selvage on the coin pocket, it looks like it's folded down with the selvage still exposed, which I think is an excellent way to go. I have a pair with the selvage edge at the top of the coin pocket, and with under 2 weeks of wear it's folded in kind of a weird way which I don't think looks too good. I like the details like that.

I'm hoping, and it looks like I may be correct, that the Vintage cut will have slightly wider legs than the Classic cut. The Classic is a bit too narrow for me.

Eeek, another ancient thread.... BiG has Takumi on sale for 50% off. I picked up a pair of Classic Cut Raw Selvage for $125. Zimbabwe cotton, rope dyed (13 dips), indigo print on the yoke, and a lot of other cool details. The back pockets aren't my favorite design, but I've head that the denim is impeccable, tightly woven and very comparable with Oni. The denim is woven on the same mills as Samurai and Oni denim. I bought with out trying them on or really knowing that much about them, but I couldn't pass up the price for all of those great details.
