they are very highly regarded, nice denim which is 50% cotton and 50% sugarcane fibres which creates a 'slubby' look to the denim. The specialise in repros of levis 40's, 50's and 60's their originals are also cool with things such as snake patches, check out www.selfedge.com

im not into the 50% sugarcane thing... i remember someone saying the sugercane fibre is like woodchips...

rather get another jap. brand like sammi's, pure blue, etc...

    I didn't actually know that!
They are highly regarded amongst denimheads, but if you can't get them directly out of Japan they are way overpriced imho.

yeah but then again, the same goes for Nudies in the states...
    I'm getting my Oni's out of Japan and it's $235 shipped, that's a reasonable price I think :D

I have two pairs of sugarcanes. The Hawaii and the Okinawa. They are very nice jeans. The quality is amazing, the details are great as well (lined back pockets, cool as hell pocket linings, the patches made of various things).

And yes, they are really scratchy at first, and you can pull little chunks of sugarcane out of the denim, which feels like wood.

Yeah agreed that Nudies that are sold overseas are overpriced too, it has to do with availability, supply and demand, i guess that raises the price.

But on the point of Sugercanes, what is the advantage of sugercane mixed with cotton opposite to just plain 100% cotton, is it stronger and more durable?

i dont think so, it's just unique

and i'm pretty sure all sugarcane jeans aren't made with the blend, only specific models

No, it has to do with tariffs and distributors/agents.

Supply and demand GAVE YOU the possibility to buy those jeans.

The repros are 100% cotton. The cotton/sugarcane fibres mix is only for their more personal line, like the Okinawas or the Hawaiis. Got a pair of 47's, after a little more than 2 months of wear they're starting to look really nice, they have such an incrdible blue. Plus, they're probably one of the cheapest among the Japanese brands, if you buy from Japan.

Just got myself a pair of okinawas. The feel is great. They are rugged but the difference in thickness compared to my SJDJ is striking (Makes me have wet dreams about Iron Hearts...) Detailing is fantastic (hidden rivets, coin pocket selvedge, back pocket lining e.t.c e.t.c)
I am however a little worried that sizing down was a dumb idea, the waist is pretty thight right now. Guess I need to hop down into the bathub wearing them for the soak... but that will be friday or something. no time tonigt.

They will stretch, that is for sure.

And as far as the Ironhearts, they are incredible jeans. So thick and amazing feeling.

    Never seen them before?

Kinda wierd to make fakes of jeans that nobody really knows that much about.

Make sure you do post pics of tags and stuff as well when you do get them

I always loved the details (wonderful are all the pocket inlays) and the colour (pretty veggie) of the Eido but I've heard that the fit sucks (too baggy ass etc and I don't like baggy jeans) so I've never made the effort to get some.

Yeah, I would agree with you on the fitting issue. Thats the Jap. "anti-fit" for you.
