hey, im a big nudie jeans head, i've been wearing them for 7 years now and I have a total 9 pairs! I have 2 prewashed and broken into 5 of them in the past. I recently gotten 2 new pair of nudies : the Slim Jim Dry Japan, and the Slim Jim Black Coated (3rd and 4th pair of jims). My first ever pair were Slim Jims Dry Black and their pretty close to retirement. coming close to my 2nd pair which is fully retired due to that its unrepairable. (grim tims dry organic.) Since my first pair of slim jims, the 2 recent ones i bought feel very different. I must have lost some leg mass or i got 1 size up since my first pair.

Q: So I have a new pair of Slim Jims Dry Japan and I want to shrink it. I've heard people talking about "soaking" the jeans to make them shrink. I want to know if theres a thread on the forum I can look at. And if I decide to, will the Dry Japans fabric actually shrink? And will it mess up the new raw feel of the denim? Much appreciated on your guys response. Thanks p.s. I tried posting this on the Slim Jims section but was restricted for some reason. Any ideas?

Nudies are sanforized afaik. Soaking them won't affect them, but it will most likely make them less starchy. You don't need to worry about shrinking them, it is generally used for the higher end japanese denim and levis STF.

A hot soak will shrink it a bit, but you'll also lose a bit of indigo and starch (slowing down the fading). Not worth it imo.

Wow, fast reply, thanks guys, and TY crwd. I read the shit out of that and I think I'm going to beach wash my thin finns in november. as of now, I guess I'll wear em as is. In retrospect, I think wearing the grim tims and thin finns between my first and current jims made me realize now that jim was not all that tight back then.

The SJDJ was my first pair and I was very disappointed when I washed them, as I loved the stiff feeling. So, a hot soak will shrink them a bit, but only in length (max. 0,5 - 1"), as the waist will stretch out. Thus, the jeans will feel softer. If you like that, go for it. If the fit you and you like the stifff feeling, don't soak. Starched jeans will fade more easily, so if you're out for sharp fades, don't soak too.
