About six months ago a friend and myself who were just getting a guitar amp out of the back of his car, and this girl biked past us and grinned at my friend and told him "you should smile more". He thought it was the greatest thing, but I thought it was kind of presumptuous of her. We later had a conversation about the offensiveness of saying "keep it real".. How telling people that they need to find some sort of way to be real is in itself not being real at all, and denies the phrase any validity..

However, Be Real could very well be a commentary on ridiculous shirts Diesel and others manufacture for people to pay for in order to appropriate pre-designed style. I'm on the fence concerning the symbolism of your shirts.

Telling someone to keep it real is better than telling them to Energie or to Hollister, however, and I'm sure most would agree, and I'm sure they would further agree that they're very handsome on both the male and female models you have there.

Haha, you have to check out the webstore. The shirts all say Be Real. I was just contemplating that. I like the purple.

man, i remember the days when charging $15 for a tshirt from a homemade brand was considered highway robbery and $7 was the going price, $5 at shows and events. ahh, times they're a'changing

in all seriousness it looks pretty cool man, good job

Man, I just got three shirts, you know, from a dude just doing his thing, for $10.00 each, marked down by $70.00 or more each.

I mean, they're all very nice, but $80.00 is a lot of money..

I'll post in the WAYWT thread if you ever wanna' see..

Seriously though Stephen man, the shirts kind of remind me of Stussy. Have you posted on Hypebeast? They'd be all over it.

    thanks greg,
hopefully some of the stuff that i plan on doing in the future will catch you guy's attention more.
since this is just a starting point for me, alot of my ideas aren't out there yet.
but hopefully in the future it'll all fall in place.

no, i understand the tagless/american apparel thing, that's way after my time but apparently it's a huge deal these days. I'd say just try to put your best stuff out asap, concept is everything especially in a flooded market like the one you're trying to hit. A good conceptual design will sell much faster than screen printed tags and a one color print

    stephen,

I placed a link to your website over on styleforum. I'm in my later 30's, bro. And while your graphic may not be very age appropriate for me, I do think that your design is stylish enough to appeal to the 20-sometings...especially those partial to streetware. Anyway, just doing my part to help. Again, I'm looking forward to seeing what you have to offer in the future. Good luck!
