    Hey all,

I started out with a SJDBT about 2 and a half years ago which is my favorite and most loved pair. Then I got a SJOEE about a year or so ago which is less loved but still a great pair nonetheless.

I recently purchased a pair of TFBCI and I got to work getting it to fit just right. I sat cross legged a lot at my desk at work which is the treatment I gave my last two pairs.

I'm really upset because the out seam at my knees is starting to pop. I thought selvedge was even stronger than non selvedge denim but something is wrong with the stitching. Has anyone else encountered quality issues with thin finns? Is it because its coated? Do coated jeans not stretch the same way regular denim does?

Any tips would be helpful. Its an easy fix I suppose since the selvedge line is quite accessible by a sewing machine, but I've had this pair maybe a month and the seams are already about shot.

    Thanks!

TFBCI is black coated indigo, right? Don't think this is a pair of selvage denim (and also the denim has nothing to do with a broken seam).
    Do you have pictures?

And how about bringing it back to the shop you bought from?

I never had quality issues with one pair of my nudies. Not even one crotch blowout.

But of course it is possible to buy a pair with defects. Just go and exchange them. Shouldn't be a problem.

And, where have you seen a selvage line on your pair?

These are the jeans. Thin Finn Black Coated Indigo (Part of the 2011 Cultizm Injection Pack)

Its hard to tell in this photo but if i was wearing it you would see the seams stretch out and you can actually see the skin on the side of my knee through here.

    Selvedge.

Yeah I never had quality issues with my other two pairs. I've had one almost at 3 years and its going great. Small hole in the pocket but it has been a real champ. The other pair looks to be every bit as durable, so I was shocked when I've had these a short time and they're already showing side wear.

I wondered if TF just wasn't very durable in that area compared to SJ since the SJ has the hardcore double stitching on the side, but I don't know.

That's no selvage... That's just some overlock stitch holding the denim from unraveling.

Such stitching prblem can occur when the jeans are rather tight...if they are not too tight on you than it might be some quality issues. Tell Nudie about an maybe they can do something
(But don't tell them about your "selvage" ;-) )

Hope that the guy who sold you the jeans didnĀ“t mention that it is a pair of selvage jeans...

Nevertheless. Just contact Nudie and explain them your "problem". I am sure that they will handle it.

Btw. The patina of those looks great!!!

The thread doesn't look broken, but just a little loose or stretchy.

    Did you size down alot?

it's not broken... i'm wearing a TFBCI too.. no prob with the stitchin.. and these are not selvage...
only thing is they are pretty thin jeans... only 10 or 11oz? i'm more afraid of em tearing if i fall from my bike than seams splitting... LOL..

    interesting...

well anyway I don't think I sized down too much. I got the same size as my Jims. They felt a bit tight but I expected them to stretch like the Jims did. They didn't feel unreasonable or anything though.

Hmmm...well I got them from Cultizm so it'd be a pretty big pain to return them. I'm going to consult some of my friends who sew about reenforcing that section on the knees first.

Shhhh, yeah they are crazy thin! and because of how slick they are they feel super freezing in seattle. I can't wait till it gets warmer but once summer hits I worry these jeans are gonna get crazy sticky.

Oh well. I'm really happy with the fit and look. They're pretty sweet jeans. I just worry that they're gonna break quickly unlike my jims. As a side note, I'm pretty sure my SJOEE are 11oz denim which is pretty similar to these finns.
