    To answer...

    ...questions:

    * After wearing Levis 517s for years, Zathans were my first introduction into higher-end denim. Although I've been wearing only Levis Skinner Rigids or Nudie Olas (raw size 31) for the last (almost) 2 years, I used Zathans as a sizing reference. Every pair I own is a size 30x30...maybe they've stretched with me as I've grown through the years. At 5'11" 165lbs, reading 35" inches on the cloth measuring tape surprised me too.

    * Guess I should point out that I wear jeans around my hips - maybe even lower than what most consider hips. My true "waist" size is 32.5", however where jeans are usually worn around my hips measures 34.5"-35" - hence my inquiry.

    Thanks again for any/all help...

yeah, well measure your waist and not your hips. and if you wanna sag them buy a big size. though it sounds like you're buying the correct sizes based on the jeans / measurements you mentioned.

Just got my pbj xx010, I know I know this is for xx005 thread but since xx005 and 010 have the same fit I assume it should be fine for me to post here. I ordered size 32 one wash from BiG, I tried it on and it fits quite tight. Should I keep wearing it as it will stretch a little or get size 33 instead?

All jeans stretch in the waist with wear. You can wet the waistband and pull on them to help stretch it out faster.

    Thx dcp1610 :)
Now after only a day I already can feel it's not that tight anymore. BiG emails me back saying he has a pbj from size 29 into about 31 in the end. I was kinda skeptical with asking them since people said that BiG's measurements are off but he owns one so I guess that's more trustworthy.

    Suggested size?

Hi! I want to purchase a pair of PBJ xx-005-raw from BiG but I need some help finding the right size because I'm basically switching from a skinny cut to a slim straight cut..:-o

I'm 5'7" and I've been wearing my Nudie Thin Finn Dry Organic Ecru Embo 31x32 for about 8 months on and off, I would say the fit after stretch overall is pretty good for me, the waist is right on and the thighs are comfortable. But like I mentioned I want to try a wider leg cut while still maintaining a slim shape (preferably like how this person wore his pbjs http://lookbook.nu/look/487057). So should I go true to size 31 and soak OR should I size down to a 30 (will two be too much? lol) and soak and wait for the tightness to stretch out? Any help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance!

    Small update:

I soaked em in bath tube with hot water for ~2h, and they didn't shrink as much as expected.
Inseam shrunk from ~85cm to ~81cm, wich is less than 5%.

I dont like the idea of going though another soak or washing in machine...
You guys think it's ok to just start wearing em and do next soak after 2 months (or more?) ?

another soak won't hurt. really. and you can move them in the tub when you soak.

but if you are really afraid (what you shouldn't), then just wear them :)

The machine is what I'm afraid of, and about soak it's more a matter of beeing lazy and having to wait one day for em to dry in the appartment.

Will follow your advice and do another soak tomorrow though, thanks for input!

So I ordered the XX-011 fit in size 30. It sounds like it's just what I'm looking for fit-wise, and should give me variety along with my Grim Tims. I'll post some pics when they get here in a few days. I ordered them from the PBJ website since I'm in Japan, and I believe they are one-wash so I shouldn't need to soak them or anything.

Yep - I ordered the xx-009... Pics in a couple of days... Went with the one wash as I dislike unsanforised jeans... Too bad this cut wasn't available in a heavier denim...

I went true to size. I could've gone for a size 31 but why bother: all the denim would've done was stretch to the measurements they are now...

    PBJ XX-009.

I don't think a size down would have been better
