*shrug* I don't know...I feel like a broken record because I know this has come up in the community previously. And my rant was just about the same.

A small part of me almost wants Nudie to invest in a MASSIVE multi-million dollar international advertising campaign complete with celebrity and Band endorsements, TV spots, and 100 foot banners towed by airplanes. Just to freak people out a bit. :p

Plus, what's so wrong with getting your friends in on the action? I love to spread the word about dry denim to those interested. Share the love. ;-)

I can easily see 10 people wearing Nudies every day. Between U students wanting to not have to launder their pants AND be stylish... and the fact that everyone in Calgary wears jeans, Nudies are wayyy too popular :p

Calgary jumps on something cool and sucks its soul. Just ask J. Lindeberg. Most of the kids wearing Nudies have their moms wash them every week for them, too.

The Nudie pre-washes are more expensive.. More production costs, you know.

Plus, I'm sure they were a bit more costly back then, since Nudie was smaller.

although this thread is ancient I'd just like to share my view on this whole subject.

first of all I very much agree with this quote:

this was definitely true in my case.

Also like mentioned before in Holland (and Germany obv) Nudie as a brand has been main stream for years now but really more about shirts and prewashed jeans and this is the way I was used to seeing Nudie as a brand until a year ago from now. Also I think it's true what has been mentioned before that the dry denim phenomenon never really going to be such a huge thing so I personally always get excited whenever I see somebody on the street wearing dry's (Nudies or w/e other brand ) especially when i can see that they're worn off a little and the person wearing them obviously knows and cares about his jeans.

So in all conclusion: I really don't mind Nudie becoming "bigger" in terms of popularity as I'm used to this before I ever knew about dry denim.

People complain that Nudie is becoming too popular. This is weird to me, I very very rarely see people in Montreal wearing them...I've seen less than 5 in the last year, and they all were raw with very little wear.

Even weirder, I've been to Berlin last summer for 2 weeks and I thought I'd see alot of them but no! More than in Montreal of course....but none with decent wear!!

What's up people, wear your jeans.

    Cheers to that.

Cheers to that. Fraternities really depend on what school you go to. I also was in a Fraternity, but the whole system at my school was so @#$%ing low key. We had everyone from your standard run of the mill preppy kids to skate rats (or ex skate rats like me) to people who look exactly like the people I see in the "what are you wearing" threads. Our dues were very little and it really was more of an association of people who met up on Sundays to talk about the next party or philanthropy. Pretty low key stuff.

However...I transfered to that school from a much larger school (Florida State Univ.) and there, yes, the Greek system was all the stereotypes you can think of. All of them and then some.

Blue, I noticed you're a D.C. area person...you go to college around the DC area?

    gm.

Totally...I think I have to take anything at Urban with a little grain of salt.

I will cry if I ever see Nudies at an Urban Outfitters. That'll be the end guys. That'll be the end.

I actually went to college in St. Louis, MO. I had never been to the DC area until I got my first job offer out here after graduation.

Stay away from High st kensington and Covent Garden in London then. You'd probably pass out. Remember cheap supermarkets started selling Levis?

I travel alot for work and rarely see Nudies. When i do they just look so fc.k.g cool.
You see them more in Sweden like you see a few kilts in Scotland and saris in India.

i like how they and kind of underground,
that way when i see someone else wearing them i feel that we have something in common

but i see lots of them..
maybe it's just because i check out what jeans everyone on the street is wearing.. seriously

well so do I and I think probably many others here too but honestly I never really feel bad in any way seeing them, I just get excited more. With any dry denim jeans though so not just Nudies. I don't like seeing prewashes though.. that's nothing special.

But anyways; do you care more for being "underground" or for the passion or hobby of denim? and the way I see it "we're" still pretty damn underground.

Hehe, its like being a fly on the wall, watching the panel of hippster judges decide when to jump ship on a trend...

This in reference to Nudies in general, not dry denim necessarily.
