okay will please someone help me here? I don't really know much about stretching/soaking that whole thing.

I am planning to hot soak my MASA's asap but I don't really know exactly how/what/where/how much and so on.

reason for soaking them: they're really starting to stink a little too much lately and I really can't stand it anymore and hanging them out in the wind and spraying them down with refreshner stuff isn't working anymore either.

I am trying to lose as little as possible indigo but still do want a hot soak so I wont be surprised when afterwards they arent as dark as they used to be. Also; I believe that a hot soak shrinks jeans? well I do hope so because I really do want them to.

so if anyone here is willing to help out: please do so!!

I don't know much about shrinking and soaking but i do now a other way. My MASA's get covered with beer every week and that + sweat makes them stink like hell. Simple solution, just put them in the dryer for a half a hour and they wont smell bad anymore!

I can't believe how much time you spend on here and how little you seem to know about denim, if I didn't know any better, I would think you didn't read any valuable info and are just here to talk about sneakers...

Gsko - 45 minute hot soak in the bath tub, then hang up outside in the fresh air, if that's not possible, just hang up near an open window to dry.

The smell will be gone and they will be noticeably tighter.

haha I guess I could've expected this huh ;-) anyways, I'm sorry but I never really got into the more "valuable info" like stretching/soaking etc. I guess I never really cared that much about as it didn't ever really bother me much.

But thnx a lot Arizor .

well yeah, but in the end, soaking, shrinkage, stretching is gonna be something to know about, now you know...
but anyhow, as said before, a hot soak will make them shrink, you won't lose much indigo as the denim isn't aggitated, so, you're set to go... :p

oh yeah ****.. I forgot to ask, soaking inside out or not? wow my reputation (not that have some kind of great one or w/e) is definitely getting even worse with this

and isn't 45min a little short? just wondering because I'm reading all these other threads about soaking and everybody is mentioning couple of hours.

Doesn't really matter, don't listen to anyone saying they MUST be inside-out, in my experience it doesn't have an affect.

Any longer than 45 minutes and you're wasting your time, asides from having to keep topping up the water, I've found that after 45 minutes the jeans stop shrinking any more.

all the talk about several hours is when it concerns unsanforized jeans... totally different story...
in this case, you just want to clean them and get some shrinking, 45 mins will do just fine

inside out or not, doesn't really matter for a soak, but I always wash inside out, so I also always soak inside out...

I soaked um yesterday afternoon for about 50 minutes in the hottest water I could get outta the tap (and no refilling). hung um up to dry in the shower because the weahter in Holland is hella ****ed up atm so I couldn't hang them outside. I checked them out this morning and they were still soaking wet of course and I hope I'm able to hang them up oustide to dry today cause otherwise they wont dry up till monday or so :s

If possible, hang them up next to an open window, that is if you cannot just hang them outside.

gsko, do you not have a laundry room? hang them in there and they'll definitely dry faster. you shouldn't have soaked them tho, but it already happened, so... we'll see.
