i figured out, measurements would help you more ;-)

    so...

    Sven:
    upper thigh: 63cm
    knee: 48cm
    leg opening: 46cm

    Joe:
    upper thigh: 62cm
    knee: 45cm
    leg opening: 44cm

both measured on 32/34. but the upper thigh on my Joes feel tighter...perhaps i wear them higher then my Svens?! dunno

    hope that helps

I think that's because of the cut of the Joe's, as they are tapered on the thighs.

Gotcha, thanks for the help. Looks like I'll not be able to do the Nudies contest then. It was a bit tight to get into the Sven.

but it is just one bloody centimeter :!: hadn't thought that there would be such a difference in fit because of this centimeter

@bof: when i see your waywt-pics i have to agree with you. Sven would fit you better than Joe does. Or maybe you size up one!

Yeah, the Sven would be more my style as well. I don't see sizing up one as an option since I'm a 36, so that would mean getting a 38 which would likely slide right down to my knees (once the denim softens up).

    Dry Denim Compared to Selvage

    Hi Guys,

Im new to the Nudie scene and this is what i found. I tried a pair of Average Joes on today and didn't know if they were Selvage or not all i know is they cost about 100.00 in the end i didn't purchase them as i knew i could get a better deal.

So i bought a pair of Average Joe Heavy Dry Denim on the net for 70.00 Ive only just realised that there may be a difference between the AJDS and AJDH can anyone define the two differences for me?

Im really worried as the ones i tried on in the shop today were really stiff and quite heavy and had an extremely nice fit. If they turn out to be Selvage will i get on all right with the AJHD I just purchased?

    Please help me out

misc. question thread please! ;-) (bil or dom, move this?)

oh and maybe you could do some searching yourself, there is a glossary in wich Selvedge is explaned and the AJ subforum surely has more info about the Dry Heavy and Dry Selvedge version....

    don't be lazy...

i'm too tired to explain you the complete difference between selvage and non-selvage. spending a little time here in the forum and you'll know it..just search the threads.

but you don't have to be afraid. the AJDH is stiff and heavy, too. it's actualy heavier than the selvage as far as i know. the fit will be the same if i'm not mistaken.
got my AJDH on monday and in my opinion it's the best fit of the whole nudie collection!

yes timmy, you're right...people seem to be afraid that their questions in the misc. thread won't be found...but we read ALL the questions ;-)

p.s. why aren't you a mod? would be much easier...you wouldn't have to write so much ;-)

When i tried them on in the shop i tried them in a 30 the waist was ok but did seem slightly loose not to the extent where it became baggy. My worry is that the waist will stretch and thus become baggy would it be best to exchange the jean for a 28 instead of the 30? I want the jean to be tight as in the context photo. Are the AJDH known for stretching in the waist at all..

    Cheers

All dry denim will stretch as you wear it. To prevent stretching, wear a belt. If you want them to fit like the pic on Context, you'll have to size down at least one size, even two may be possible.

    misc. thread....ah don't mind...

all raw-denim will stretch so you can always go down one size.
you are from great britain, right? in-between-sizes aren't that populat, are they? well if you have the oppurtunity to try on a 28 and you can button it up, then buy a 28. if not, order a 29. cultizm.com got both the AJDH and AJDS in 29/xx

Well I usually go for a waist size 30 in jeans and there always a bit loose in the waist the nudies did seem a tiny bit loose. So i could only size down to a 28 even then i bet that would be super tight for me. When i tried the 30 on in the shop the fit seemed standard in the waist but thats only because their new right? I mean these will stretch so if i aspire for the look of context maybe it would be best to go for a 28 instead then? But even then how long will it be before the discomfort of wearing a 28 waist will fade....

    Yep from Great Britain

as i said..if you can button the 28, then get it. maybe it's tight first but it will loosen up a bit with wear.
it's hard to promise you the same fit as it is seen on context..every body is different
