alright thanks for the info. i probably couldve just read the whole thread but too lazy.:-|
oh and another question. how does the stf fade after a hot soak? good or average or bad. does it fade better without soak or after soak?
They should still fade just fine. Lots of people aren't big on them since they're cheap, but I believe that there are some very nice looking pairs posted around here (likely early in the thread).
edit: just looked through the thread and found that wherever they were hosted, they aren't any more, sorry. There are some very nice looking ones out there though...
alright thanks man.
Hey guys I have a couple questions.
Can I just soak the Waist by itself??
Its because I do not want to loose lots of indigo
If I soak it How long should it take for a full shrinkage w/o wasting too much indigo. THANKS
You can just hang the waist in if you want to, but if you don't soak the rest of the jeans, you'll have to be very careful about getting caught in the rain. Just hang the jeans over the edge of the tub so that the waist is soaking. Use very hot water (many people actually boil water and pour it into the tub while the jeans are there) to make sure you get as much of the shrinking out of the way as possible. Kiya from SE did a little test and found that basically all of the shrinkage you're going to get will be in the first 30 min or so (possibly even just 20), so there's really no reason to soak for hours on end.
I've been saying this all along, people who soak for more than an hour are silly.
Okay So I saoked the Waist Only!!
It came out very Well!! Perfect fit for me..
When I first got it there was space for my hand to fit inside my waist/
Soaked in Hot water for 25Minutes
Sorry for big pics
It looks like a good fit!
Won't soaking the waist only get you huge hip flares?
yeah it will, as you can see in his photos.
Just soak the whole jean. What are you so afraid of?
I would but I really like the fit already! So im good.
Original Levis 501's
I have dozens upon dozens' of brand new shrink to fit 501-s from the late 70's early 80's. ( I used to go down to the states often, and I remember that Nordstroms had a limit of four, and every time I would go down I would get my limit.. I think they were only $16.99 per pair, maybe even less... But comparing to my nudies.. they just don't... The cut of my ralphs are just so so much better... I tried on the 501's again just to see if maybe I was missing something.. and I sure wasn't ... To be honest nudies are the best raw demin I have ever purchased, adn I have purchased easily over a hundred pairs of raw denim.. ( only about twenty differant types).

Preferably I'd go with the Levi's 511s. The fit-to-shrink don't really grasp your skin like it's depicted.
stf come in black too right? cuz mine seems to be black
haha go over to sufu with that mindset and you'll have your ass handed to you.
not agreeing with them per-se, just stating.
Hi y'all, not sure if I should post this under "this or that" but if so, sorry.
What's y'all view on the following LVC Nevada model? Are there any differences, apart from the price...
1) Knappave 1880s (reference Cultizm online, 4 pockets with 1 side pocket).
2) Levi's Japan e-shop Nevada 1880s rigid (limited 150 pairs, in conjunction with the e-shop launch, comes with leather suspenders - 4 pockets with 1 side pocket).
3) LVC online 1880s Nevada (4 pockets).
From the pics, the e-shop pair is very similar to Knappave, except for the leather patch. Are there differences in denim weight, natural/synthetic indigo etc. which makes up the hugh price difference?
However, my dilemma is, apart from costing an arm and a half, is that these pairs shrink only an inch on average. Cultizm carries a 33 waist size, but e-shop Japan has only even number size, 32, 34 etc. Being natural waist 32 inch, should I go for 33 or 32 (thus hoping it will stretch)?
Sorry, but I hope someone out there can enlighten me on this.
Just for the record to clear things up, I work for Levi's and here are a few tips for ya. STFs are not sanfordized and like a science shrink 1 inch in the waist and 3 in the inseam. For best results, which I have experienced over and over, buy a pair that fits in the waist (i.e. if you wear a 33, buy a 33) but get 3 or for inches too long in the length and cuff. Wear for 8 months or more (6 doesn't really do the trick for me) and do not wash them. Put them on with no underwear and get in a cold or room temperature bath for 30 mins. This is the best way to get the desired look. Levi's aren't treated with as much indigo the look is harder to achieve. And this is for cheap normal STFs. Repro's like the 1947 and 1955 are much better treated. Hope this helps someone. Sorry so damn long.
but most importantly, can you get me cheap levis?!
hmmm..... no wonder i am not wearing my LVC anymore, as i did soak in hot water for 2 hours after 2 months of wear, and according to your instruction, we should just wear them as long as possible and then wash. my LVC are pretty soft now, and i don't wear them due to the softness and stubbornness of the fading process.
