i definitely just joined this board specifically for this very contest...

is there any chance we can get a complete list of the rules so i don't have to run back through all 60 pages of posts pickin' em out?

The anticipation is building!! I'm a little up in the air about the first soak. I'm currently working on a pair of 501stf in the old cut. I wore them on and off for 10 months and soaked them on Thanksgiving day. I got some whiskering and some light honeycombing but they've lost their stiffness that was great for creasing. I'll have to wait till New Year's day to figure out what I'll do with the new pair.

That's Ueto Aya. Here's another pic. It's not all that recent, but it's a look I like. Usually she just does the same young-and-cute routine.

Why do you keep calling it the old cut? There is no new cut in production of the cheap stf. Just lettin ya know the contest is for the "old cut" found in stores anywhere from $28-$49.50.

I also thought the 501s were all slimmed down slightly, more closer to the 1947 cut. In fact I'm almost postive the new 501s (the ones with the "501" tag on the waist band are based off the 1947 cut. Its NOT the 1947 cut, but all 501s now, whether its made to be sold in the US or Japan or Germany etc, are one same universal cut. Thats also why I wanted to know if ALL 501 STFs were allowed. People can still buy the "older" 501 at Macys alongside the "new" 501, and some can even kop Made in USA shrink to fits on ebay.

Yeah. We thought they looked slimmer when they came in they measured the same everywhere. Wykat, were you still working when global blues started?

There has been a slight change to the cut of the cheap 501s as Whatdoyouknow mentioned in his post. Legs and thighs have been slimmed down and a small change in tags. Check out posts on styleforum for comments and the jap mag Mens Fudge for side by side comparo.

I believe that I've added everyone who asked to be (up to 39 contestants!) so please let me know if I've missed anyone.

The basic rules are listed in the first post, but here's a brief recap:
Post pics of the raw jeans on 1/1/09 or after.
Post pics at least once/month or so thereafter so we can see the evolution.
No alterations other than hemming allowed.
Standard blue STF jeans with the cardboard patch (link to them on the Levi's site in post #1).

And, since others have been posting some pics...

Disregard the shirt, as it was from being dressed up for work earlier. The rise is longer than I'm occustomed to, and it'll be good to have some shrinkage, but I'm really looking forward to getting this started...

I may have to opt out on this, I've tried on multiple pairs and I just look super bogged down.
Plus I indulged and bought some Pure Blue Japans :\
If I find any that DO fit, I'll come right back, though :).
    Good luck to everyone!
