So, we're having a contest to get the best looking pair of Levi's 501 STF. As stated below, this contest is sponsored by Cultizm, and the winner will receive a pair of LVC 1944 501s. Acceptable jeans are any pair of standard 501 Shrink To Fit jeans that are the standard blue (indigo) with a cardboard patch on the back (not a leather patch). Click Here for a link to the jeans on the Levi's website as an example.

    Time frame: 1 year
    Sponsorship: Cultizm
Awards: Cultizm is putting up a pair of LVC 1944 501's for the winner!
    Start Date: 1-1-09

    Procedures:
    1. post pics of your raw jeans on 1/1/09 or later as evidence of starting with a raw pair.
    2. update photos will be posted by the 15th of each month.
    3. on/around 1/1/10, voting threads will be created for final results photos.
    - voting will be open until ...to be decided, likely end of Jan...
    - definitive process for this final step will have to be worked out with moderators such as Bil, and Dejan (what with his sponsorship of the contest and all).

No alterations other than hemming allowed.

six months is not near long enough... especially since 501's take a lot of work and have to be soaked first before wearing...

Cool, I was not aware that they'd be changing the cut before too long.

If people think 6 months isn't long enough, there's no reason we couldn't go longer. I just wasn't sure how long people would want to devote to jeans this cheap when many people have various other more expensive pairs waiting in the wings.

the regular 501's don't really have a ton of indigo into them so if you wear them hard it shouldn't be hard to get great fades in six months.. hell my LVC's have some awsome fading and combing going after just 3

When would the start date be?

If the Pherrows contest falls through, I will do it. As long as the start date is the same as the Pherrows.

Dunno. I've got a pair at 4 months. I was going to shelve them for a while and start a higher quality pair of jeans; but I could run these to six months and post pics. That really isn't in the spirit of the contest though -- I assume I'd have to start a new pair.

When would you want to start? I like the contest. I've been pleasantly surprised at MyNudies and Sufu's acceptance of these jeans...they're cheap as hell, but they got me hooked.

I seem to recall that the Pherrows contest was set up to be at a time when it was convenient with all of the other contests, so why not go ahead with that start date? What was it again? hehe...

I'd be interested as well. Would prefer a spring beginning though, say April? And it would be interesting to hear whether really the stf 501s cannot be worn dry, I've tried both in the past, the shrinking in the tub when new and the dry wearing in a la nudie. Never worn them long enough for any fade worth mentioning, though!
