I've been experiencing problems lately when trying to buy a pair of jeans that don't show off too much of my ass when sitting down.

My Grim Tims are pretty bad for it, and I wouldn't say they had a particularly low rise.

I've tried APC (PS + NS) and Railcar recently and had this issue. When I sit down it feels as though back of the jean is pulling down. I overcome this by tucking in tshirts (under a shirt for example) but would prefer a better fit.

Does anyone else get this? What fits would work better?

I'm fairly slim but have wide'ish hips - I'm usually a 32" waist but often find it quite tight around my hips.

I was thinking about trying RT Stanton but don't really like ordering online anymore.

    Cheers

Samurai jeans tend to have long rises. My S710s and S0500s had the longest rises of any jeans I can remember trying - since I'm quite tall, I like high rise jeans too.

I dig high rise jeans, as I can't stand jeans that hug your family jewels and seem to be designed for 16 year old girls (like the FC 1653) . I can recommend the Eternal 811, most Samurais (710, 510, 0500), Warehouse 800, Fullcount 1108, PBJ 003, LVC 44, 55 etc. The cuts you listed are skinny or slim fits and somehow they all come with girl cuts...mybe the high kai is th only exception of that I know. I don't buy jean with a front rise below 11" and backrise below 15". That's somehow my crucial measurements. My 888 for example feel so comfy in the top block and are rather slim in the legs.

Can't believe I didn't think of this earlier, but Ande Whall. He makes some slim cuts with very long rises. I know you don't want to order online but he puts up so much detailed info (like top thigh, mid thigh, etc. measurements) that you should be able to find something that works.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'll check them all out online.

Max - I think I'll aim for an 11" front rise and 15" at the back as well. That should get me the room I'm after. The problem is that I have quite slim legs, so I have to get the slimmer cuts (which usually come with smaller rises).

CS - I've seen Ande Whall but never knew about their high rises. Do they only sell those in New Zealand? I'm in the UK so that might be a problem sadly... I do like the look of those!

Does anyone else suffer the same problem when sitting down btw? My GT feel great when I'm standing up, but annoying when sitting down.

Oh, I'll post an update on my Open Selvage GT soon. Finally showing some interesting fading after 8months.

I simply can't understand where the trend came from. Probably it's that you had to wear girl jeans back then to get a skinny look and so the low rise was a natural feautre. And the cuts for men were not changed, or are unisex like Nudies TLJ. But a low rise plus narrow crotch is nothing that I can bear, I want my jeans to be comfy. So in fact, many interesting jeans are just disqualified by their low rise, its the first measurement I look at.

Ande Whall sells from Japan but he'll ship anywhere. You would have no problem getting them to the UK.

The caribou's look interesting. Good front and back rise but still relativerly slim in the ledg.

I'll investigate customs charges and have a think. No returns, so it's a bit of a gamble! I'd love to try a couple pairs on.
