A shame that a Canadian has opened this thread ;-)
    I thought about last week.

I'm curious how South Africa will do. Playing in their own country surely motivates them. (look at Rugby 1995)

My favorite for the World Cup is Spain.
But of course I hope Germany will do it :-D

for some reason I have a feeling Portugal will win this year.

Paraguay was a strong team to beat back in 1998 or 2002. Should be an interesting match for sure.

and yes, Canada will lose, oh wait a minute, are they even qualified? haha!

Oh, i hope france will lose against paraguay, and gets eliminated in the first round. they shouldn´t be there. there just qualified cause the referee in their last match against ireland was a joke.
    F*ck you, Henry. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KIqwTNm8ZA

Everyone´s bets are on spain, but england, holland and of course argentinia and brasil have good chances, too. Well, but why should we care about other teams, when germany is gonna win in the end, anyways.

Edit: Portugal used to be good, but now they are just average.

Me too. Can't get worse than italy.

Yeah totally forgot Holland. Although I'm German I wouldn't mind if they win. I like their way of playing soccer.

Spain was my favourite in 2008. That bet got me coupon from our local haircutter

Dude, France are playing Uruguay on Saturday in Group A. Paraguay are in Group F with Italy.
Anyway, my money is on Argentina. And England to go out in the Quarter final on penalties hopefully!

    ^^ Yeah!
I like the German team, very strong and determine, but with the current strike force, I really dont know, man!
Podolski, Lahm and Schweinsteiger are some good German players, but I cant say the same for Gomez and Klose recent form....

Wow, someone did his homework ;-)
Podolski's season was very weak. But when he plays for Germany he's usually stronger.
And I'm curious how England will perform. They always have a bunch of top-players but at the last WC they dropped out pretty early. But with Rooney in this form he has right now...strong team

haha, I'm a football freak! Been playing competitively even til now :)
Agreed! Podolski is always good when he plays for Germany, so lets see how he perform this time. England is always a hope that wont last long, however, in my heart, there is always a place for the English.
This World Cup, I'd want to see more of Spain, the Barce style, attractive football :)

cacau is in a very good form actually and don´t forget about kießling.
i´m sure our very young offensive midfielders (özil (21), marin (20), kroos (20), müller (20)) are good for lots of surprises.
hope trochowski won´t start, i´d prefer müller or kroos.

ya, very young indeed, but they are not lack in experieneces. With most of them participated in big events games previously, Germany are well-balanced. And to top of that, the Germans are 'specialize' in World Cup :)
