Sounds great. And really take your time to use your raw denim stuff as long as possible. That's what the Jeansmuseum recomands to everyone. You still can send them over in 5 or 10 years. No hurry. Just never throw any raw denim stuff away.

And I hope you'll find some money soon to travel around the world and visit my place over here.

I had to escape away from the heavy fog in the Swiss lowlands into the mountains and hope to be able for some more updates soon. The Pike Brothers just have some heavy duty in the garden and in the forest. But I try to be really carefull

    Some more updates:

    2011-11-06-08

Work in the office - no comments

One night I made an apple pie. I like to stay in the kitchen. And the Pike Brothers catched some white wheat flour:

In the evening of Nov. 9th untill after midnight some more sorting out of denim stuff in the Jeansmuseum and some first items putting on place. Some impressions now but still at the beginning of the work:

As always - fantastic updates. I am so glad that you joined this tour. If it was for me, you could keep these pants for two additional months

    Thanks for your comments.

I was hungry and after 2 days I have eaten the whole big apple pie by myself between the regular meals. I couldn't resist and my room mate with his girl friend were out for three days. So I was just alone at home and yeah, all the stuff went through my stomach only. Shame on me! Please apple pie god, forgive me.

And about the Pike Brothers: I'm wearing them for Thinn Finn for 6 weeks already. I think, it's soon time to let them pass to the next participant. I also don't know if there is a final dead line, when this tour has to be over.

As announced at the beginning, we are already 2 month behind the time schedule and Almostnice from Hamburg will be the next and last one.

    Participants:

    1. Dr.House: Hessen & Thüringen, Oktober-November
    2. Atzec: Bayern & Baden-Württemberg, November-Dezember
    3. Max Power: Hamburg & Schleswig Holstein, Dezember-Januar
    4. Dingo: Hessen & ?, Januar -Februar
    5. Rotbart: Niedersachsen & Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Februar-März
    6. Beautiful_Freak: Niedersachsen & Bremen, März-April
    7. Fairylicks: Hessen & ?, April-Mai
    8. ?????: xxxx, Mai-Juni
    9. 501 lover: Berlin & Brandenburg, Juni-Juli
    10. Beatle: Sachsen-Anhalt & Sachsen, Juli-August
    11. ThinFinn: Saarland & Rheinland-Pfalz, August-September
    12. Almostnice: Hamburg, September-Oktober

If I would wear them for quite another long time, there could be a risk that they'll end up as a heavy used raw denim rag in the Jeansmuseum, ha ha ha.

Do you guys really wanna see this? Then I had to wear them at least for another 2 years without any interruptions. I have them on now for 39 days only.

The only thing I could promise you: Even after many washings I could still wear them in a real heavy way, so 2 years later those pants still would end up with strong and heavy fadings. Believe me that. Perhaps this is possible after Almostnice turn, if there are still no clear rules what has to happen with those pants after passing the last person.

Perhaps this is stated at the beginning of the thread already.

I just have too much work. More updates have to wait

These little chocolate bars arrived last week from switzerland, I killed them the same evening and the next day, mjam mjam! So a real big THANK YOU to you, Ruedi!

About the tour jeans I thought there should be a second round, in fact the Piker Brothers don´t produce the engineer no more an "open end" should be possible.

Yes, the second round is a must. But I am not sure if I can fit in anymore. And I am not sure if some people are still interested in this project.

It´s not a must for former particiPANTS to do a second round. But i liked the fit and want to see the process with my own eyes ... as low as it is maybe.

I am still not disappointed on the fading. I didn't expect much sharper fades on a pair that is being washed so often and worn by different people. Although you can't generalize between different brands and denim fabrics, I still stay to my opinion, that too regular washes kill fades. this has been denied by some of the people that now complain about no fading on these PBs.

Thanks for your comments and I'm glad all chocolate bars obviously reached their goal and you liked them

    About a second round:
To see much more fading would take about another year at least.

    So some more updates:

    2011-11-19 and 11
Escaping the fog in Zurich to my parents home in the alps and doing some heavy work in the garden and the forest there with super great weather

    Cutting the Tuja scrubs:

    After cut:

    and digging for some carrots

Since 4 weeks always sunny and warm weather in the Swiss alps. So every day same picture at my parents house:

    DSC01516-red.jpg

I made a bike tour up to the summit of our hill (2115 meter above seal level) with my brother and sister. It was 15 degres celsius and really warm: The Pike Brothers had a rest on the bike:

View down to my home valley:

    DSC01551-red.jpg

And to our home mountain Piz Beverin 3000 meter

You can see the high snowline because of the warm alpine weather:
On the north site the snowline is about 2200 meter and on the sunny site about 3000 meter above seal level without any snow

So we still have to wait for skiing

    DSC01553-red.jpg

In the afternoon I made a one hour bicycle tour along the young Hinterrhein river, just before the Hinterrhein joins the Vorderrhein at Reichenau, from where the river flows in direction north called Rhein into Germany and the Netherlands

    2011-11-17

    Christmas for me:

Luckily 2 nice days without fog in Zurich I was running in the sunshine just with a t-shirt and shorts.

And we are still collecting many walnuts from our tree every day. We have thousands of them already and drying them on all places in side the living rooms:

    DSC01561-red.jpg

Some samples of them resting on the Pike Brothers:

Ah, I miss the alps! And yes, if you're lucky an there is Fön (at least in the northern alps), you can have up to 20 degrees even in winter. But I also walked through snow in September. Where I live now, it feels like having 8 months with rain and 10 degrees.

So sorry about some technical failure last night. But I was able now to upload all pics correctly on my last post including the Piz Beverin mountain and the big walnuts. We are using them to make some great Swiss walnut cakes during winter time (with many calories!!!)

You're welcome about the chocolate bars Tilmann, perhaps there will be some more later?

And we are still lucky about warm weather in the highlands during daytime. In the night we also have some temperatures below freezing point now. During daytime we reach about 5-6 degres celsius in the lowlands. But best temperatures can be found between 1'000 and 1500 meter above sea level where we still can get around 10-12 degres now. And with the strong solar radiation you can enjoy nature still with not so much clothes on.

Despite the nice and sunny weather in the Swiss alps I spent with a friend the whole weekend in the Jeansmuseum to proceed sorting out more jeans and build up the exhibition in the second room.

In 2 days some press people wanna visit me and wanna do some videos here

Status of the room at the moment (still a lot to do):

It was really heavy work and the Pike Brothers received quite some sweat.
But they are airing out now a lot over night

There are two pieces: The front one is 23 oz and the further away is a 15 oz selvage denim donated by Giles from Iron Heart on my last visit there on Gosport.

I just send a PM now to almost nice for his address, where I have to send the Pike Brothers jeans to him as the next and last partizipant here.

Wow! Those are hella lot of collection SJF, some of them are literally rags. Are you sorting them according to age? or brands? I'm suggesting you to frame up those that are literally worn out or the more "attention grabbing" ones, it will reveal more history, showing the "ultimate" breaking-in process and attract more denim-rag "lovers". However it's just an opinion though... And after the filming, can you post up the vid? I would certainly love a virtual tour of you museum
