Hi Guys, dont flame me for starting a new thread.... I figured it needed its own space.

I have a couple of pairs of tight jeans now ... (sized down AJs and some Uniqlo 001s) and am looking for some nice dressy shoes to wear with them when I go out... I've been to a couple of stores and all the shoes I have tried on look strange to me... they show too much of the shoe... i realize this maybe a function of me not being used to tapered leg openings but what kind of dress shoes do you guys wear when going out?

seeing lots of shoe isn't such a bad thing, especially with dress shoes which dont really have large tongues. try a nice fitting pair of dress boots

The red wing chelsea boots on cultizm.com are quite sweet, was drooling over them the other day.

    Something like this:

I'm a fan of dark brown hues. No pointed toes though. And yes, longer dress shoes tend to look odd with a tapered pair of jeans. It generally creates a goofy looking silhouette. *Shrug* I prefer bootcuts, which tend to look fine with sneakers and formal-ish shoes as well.

I think skinny jeans works with most things accually, seen it look good with chucks, jordans, high boots and whatnot. longer dress shoes might just be what just looks wierd with skinny jeans...)

Some Italian brand called "A. Cellini". Picked them up at journey's on sale.

Albeit, a pretty silly and groundless one. ;-)

Agreed. I think those same shoes with a pair of tapered jeans make you look like you're waterskiing.

Much of it has to do with the size of your foot. If you have big feet with tight and straight cut jeans any bold shoe will look sorta bulky---better worn with boot cut bottoms.
If wearing a dressy shoe with tight jeans, I like my square-toed soft black leather Bostonian boots. They have a small elastic material strip on the sides which enable you to stretch them to get them on. GQ says that square toes are out of style, but with tight jeans I think they are ok.

ALDO has an excellent selection of boots. Options are often in the "pointy vein" but aren't super pointy for the less daring.

I wear cowboy boots with my RRDSs and with the more tapered cuts, like my Finns, I wear the Brando lace-up boot by Frye. Can't beat 'em. I hate, hate, hate square-toed boots, shoes, anything, as they are so 1997. Pointy shoes with tapered/skinny jeans make you look like Ichabod Crane or the food critic from Ratatouille. I like more rounded shoes with the skinny look and more elegant, longer, tapered shoes with the more straight leg/slight boot of the Sven or Ralf. Hope this helps.
