In prewashed jeans I normally wear 32 in waist size. In dry jeans I get along best with 30 in which I have my AJ as well... However, my APC NS is in 28 and after one month of daily wear I don't notice any difference to the AJ. Of course the APCs have a bit slimmer fit in the thighs but you should also keep in mind that the APCs stretch most in the waist area. So you could get a problem that the jeans will start to slip if you don't use a belt.... :)
I would suggest you take the 31 cause this pair will honestly stretch a ton and they will feel really fine and relaxed after some days of wear!!

yeah, sounds like a 31 is best for me, did they stretch much in the thigh area?

I have petit standards in 31 and I am normally a 34 waist (in Nudies at least), and they have stretched just fine and fit great. I also have a size 32 waist in PS and they feel just fractionally too big now. I expect new standards are much the same.

So I'm wearing 28 in slim jims, and they've stretched as far as they will (have been wearing them for 8 months) I took in the legs because I like slimmer jeans but the waist is comfortable.

I found APC new standards in 29, is it a bad call to pick them up then? I don't like them skin tight by any means but I'm a 30/31 true size.

apc usually runs at around one size less than nudie for a similar fit. i find it hard to believe you're a true 30 is you're wearing jims in 28, but anyway the best rule of thumb is to make the comparisons for yourself with regards to the nudie fit. your 28 in jims is equivalent to a 27 or even a 26 in the NS, so 29 might be a little too big. remember that the NS is a fuller cut than SJ too, plus they stretch a lot as well, so sizing up to a 29 will be quite a large fit.

just a picture i took at work to show some progress on my apc NS which i almost never wear anymore. don't wear much because fit is too "regular/baggy" for my preference now... onto Petite standards in same size (could have gone down 1 more, but didnt =( )
the pic is true to color, no photoshoping.

I'm a thin guy, but hips are a 30-31, needless to say there are hardly any cuts that fit me properly. Seriously thanks for the heads up though.

so, i've been reading about people sizing down, which the recommended is 2-3 sizes depending on how they want it to fit. my actual measurement on where i wear my jeans is 31. so would i size down to a 28 according to the tag of NS's? or follow a size chart(like found on contextclothing.com) and size down to a 26 tagged/28 actual fit?

i hope this makes sense, cause from what i've been reading here, i'm confused at how people are sizing it down.

Sizing on jeans can get a bit confusing, as some can stretch more than others - especially NS. For NS, I think you have done a bit of research and I am sensing you already know the answer but just want confirmation. I don't own NS therefore can't comment on experience. However, my true waist is the same as yours and I would be ordering size 28 when I decide to get a pair. All the best. :)

measuring yourself is a waste of time, measure your other jeans if you want to learn your true waist size. not that even that'll help much, since all jeans stretch to different extents. anyway, i'd recommend going for a size 28- my true waist is 31 (in suit pants) and i wear 28 in NS for a straight fit. they're vanity-sized and they'll stretch blah blah blah, all of which i'm sure you've read already.

Brought some NS tagged 32, 2 sizes down from usual. One question- is it supposed to me mega tight at the waist as if it's not then when it stretches will the fit be too loose?
Top button done quite easily but still snug/tight at waist. I wear my jeans low and dont want a tight fit but dreading it becoming too baggy.

    new NS, 31

    Hi,

My New Standards just arrived, I sized down 2, from a 33 in slim jims, to a 31.

Not sure if I should've gone one more..

    Thoughts? (Sorry about photo quality)

Ok, I got a pair of Just APC standards, and Size down 3 to a 25... I am wondering as to if that was right? I like a tight fit, but they haven't come yet.

I sized down 2 but they were still too big. The so called 32 was almost like a 36 in levis 501

What?! My NS in size 29 is a bit tighter than my Levis jeans in size 31. I wouldn't size down more than 2 from your prewash size, but that's just my opinion.
