You can hold the inseam from the crotch with one hand, to the hem with the other.
You can soak after a few months if you want to keep the denim clean, but it's not necessary to do it before wearing.
That's the usual TLJ fit; your thighs look normal and you've got the right morphology to wear that type of jeans.
