I think it's time to start a new thread about denim overalls, the most classic piece of denim (even if I'm afraid that they'll become a new fashion trend).

http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/5425/totalview1.jpg (http://img404.imageshack.us/i/totalview1.jpg/)

It's not so easy to find nice new ones, but here's a cool company from germany.
Plz visit their homepage:

...and more details at Sufu: http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk/showthread.php?t=56656

I'm still looking, maybe I'll get me a pair of those great 1935 Bibs.
Hopefully we will see great fading Bib's in this thread and get more infos about this cool piece of denim.

I'll post my old black Carhartt then. I love the ones from Carhartt that were popular in the early 90s or so. The ones in cotton duck are dope imo.

nice thread house, so far ive only seen pike bros overalls/coveralls made with selvedge twill denim, however would love to see more faded Jelt denim.

btw i think i still have an old pair of OSH KOSH coveralls..good for dirty jobs :-)

edit
Carhartt duck overalls are legendary!

I've only seen a new carhartt bib, made of regular denim. Dunno if it's worth to get one?

House, you don't have to be afraid. At least I wouldn't wear them. I totally understand to wear such overalls to work but I don't see me walking through the streets with one of those :-D

No, I'm not afraid. And I couldn't wait to see me walking thru the streets with a worn in bib. Ya see, my little daughter comes to the world :-):-):-) in october, I need a nice worker outfit .

^Bibs look great for "normal" use if they fit right and if they're well worn in imo.

Well, they look way better than the typical lederhosen that my father wore as a kid.

I think that even Dexy's Midnight Runners would be sad at the existence of this thread... Not that overalls don't have a purpose, but I'll be laughing my ass off at anyone that I see wearing a pair in public.

i would publically humiliate anyone i saw wearing a bib around in the city.

its works in this picture, but can you ever imagine seeing this guy walking around in a metropolitan area?

i like the bib better than the coverall, which is all you seem to be able to get nowadays out of king gee or yakka (australian workwear reference). i looked around trying to find a bibset recently and couldn't really find one, although i would have to say that this particular item should really remain the sole domain of the japanese vintage otaku- i think it'd be taking the vintage look a little too far, in other words. i would gladly do it if i could find some reasonably priced king gee drills or maybe some old second hands, but it's not a look that is versatile enough to warrant spending large sums on hardcore dry, you know? i mean, you can spend a bomb on vintage jeans cuts, but at least you could use them with a variety of looks- the bib can only really dominate whatever combination you put it with...

plus, indigo streaks are bad enough at the waist band- you really want bleeding all over your chest?

thanks for the dexy's reference too by the way, it kinda says it all

i like the bib better than the coverall,

Can anyone explain the difference?

I generally think its taking it a bit oo far, even though it looks good. I wore them when I was little too.

^A coverall fits over your whole body.

^^ A bib overall isn't for sure an every day piece of clothing. But I can see it working. A well worn in bib overall, a white tank top or something, some chucks- great for summer and something really different. And again, I'm sure Bib's become a fashion trend (even Diesel got one).

wasn´t it a fashion trend in the early 90s as well?

Not that I recall, though I wasn't really paying any attention to fashion at that point.
