I owned a Thin Finn dry stretch and I am contemplating if I should get the selvage version. Anyway, I read in www.cultizm.com (http://www.cultizm.com) that this pair has "totally authentic orange stitchings" and "leather tag", does that make any additional difference rather than the red selvage?

SoulRebel
19th November 2008, 12:52
no red selvdge, just plain white.

xxhalcyonxx
19th November 2008, 13:06
Mind me for my misconception, was stereotyping that all selvage was red just now. Hm. . . , white selvage, something new to me, I have not seen white selvage before.
Soulrebel, you owned a pair yet?

not all selvage is red, sammies got silver selvage, PBJ got blue selvage, FH got yellow selvage, there are many types of selvage. :-D

I would really like to know if "totally authentic orange stitchings" and "leather tag" make any additional difference to the jeans. Also, is the selvage denim any thicker, heavier or darker tone in colour?

SoulRebel
19th November 2008, 13:24
i have the idea the selvedge is later sewed on, i tried uploading pics but had some failure, i will try it again.

about the jeans i have two pair of the normal DS one new, one old. the denim of the DSS is much darker and heavier and stiffer and the patch is nicer other then that nothing different

Ah. . . , that I am aware of. I read a thread in http://www.mynudies.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3592, it helps me understand more about what selvage is and the different possible colours that could be added to it. But I certainly have not seen or heard of white selvage. It sounds cool though

nightrain
19th November 2008, 14:24
white selvage is just like a normal selvage without the red line. similar to reg ralf veggie imo.

good luck fading these.. they're much darker than ODEE and we all know how hard ODEE is.. the nice thing to note is that the DSS is thicker heavier denim... at least that explains the price difference.. apart from that i wouldn't be picking one up because i have the ODEE

13" front rise! Are you sure? That seems like a really long droopy rise that would not look very nice.
Someone hopefully will post photos WEARING them, so we can see the fit.

that's why alot of people are wondering...

it's a same cut, it's just either they runs bigger or smaller or the same. haha well maybe it's just me. though the rise is questionable. haha

denim's stiffer and a little heavier - but it fits me pretty much like a regular TF. i upsized one (29" instead of 28") on these because i needed a pair of jeans to wear to work that weren't tooo tight.

how do they fit compared to a regular thin finn soul rebel? Same? Smaller? Bigger?

Just trying to work out. I am a 29 in the coated finns, a 30 in the organics which are tight. thinking of going 30, just want them a touch looser than my organics.

SoulRebel
20th November 2008, 17:50
ng_tetet. i am already wearing them so and i think you too, so a normal contest is off,but we still can put updates in this thread.

and superslim, they fit a little bigger then my thin finn ds 32/32 and smaller then my tfds 32/34 but my 32/32 are fully worn in and washed etc.. so i think they are just the same.

here a fit pic

exact thinking.. my friend tfds stretch about 1.5 size after approx 7 month... wonderin bout the tfdss...
coz if they do, I'd size down one

ng_tetet

in my opinion this is rather a rip off good society. who has hand sewn japanese white line selvage skinny/slim cut jeans for under sgd200.
would be expecting more from nudies. simply red line selvage on all models of jeans.

wanna hem em because i dont like the stacking. is the hemming process for selvage and non selvage the same? or do i need someone with a special machine for hemming the selvage ones?

and for those wondering about the sizing, i had a TFODEE and compared to my selvage finn, the sizing is the same.

Do you guys wear your thin finn tight or a little loose?

depend on your taste..
i like it a little tight especially on the knee down
but not too tight though, it will looks gay-ishhh like ricky martin

If u go down one size from your TFDS u may will have problems to fit in the jeans. Its true the legs of TFDSS are pretty much looser from TFDS, but the waist sizing is the same. I got TFDS in 30x34 but i really wasnt able to button up a TFDSS in 29x34!

i'm getting my pair on thursday, i sized down 1 from my true waist size (30) into a 29. hopefully i can button up in 29x32. if they're not stretch much, i'll be damned!

I take back what i said abt the tfodee and the tfdss are the same fit. The tfdss def fit baggier than the oee which is a shame because i was looking for a tighter fit even after i size down to 2 size...

my suggestion for everybody who wants to get a pair of TFDSS, GET 2 SIZE DOWN cause their kinda biggger than tag size (except on the waist, they're normal)

i get TFDSS 29x32, and its freakin super bigger than my 30x32 TFDC (eventhough the TFDC is already washed 2 times, but still, when they are new, they are not as big as TFDSS)

here are the pictures

1.TFDC size 30x32 (washed 2x, not so much different when they are new, just shrink about 1 cm)
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e316/roirio/tfdc-blazerpremium.jpg

2.TFDSS size 29x32 new
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e316/roirio/tfdssfit.jpg

now i'm confused , should i sell it or just wait til feb 2009 (after my SJDBT reach their 7 months) and see how my body fit 'em (maybe i'm getting fatter and the TFDSS will fit me better )

If I wanted my TFDS to be a bit tiny bit loose on the thigh, but stiff( taper) from knee to down, would I have to do ?

I was thinking sizing up, I want at least a 11-11.5 inch thigh, as well as like a 7.5 inch knee/ 7.5 inch leg opening.

What do you guys think?

I was thinking a 33/32

yeah i guess it is a little bit darker than the DS, or maybe the selvage denim makes the DSS look "tighter", i mean, the DS shows the white thread more because the denim is not as tight as the selvage finns.

Btw, If I like the fit of my tfdgc in 30/32, getting the same size for DSS should fit the same since coated also run a size bigger right?

Just my opinion though hehe

I would size down to 28. My waste is 30 and I tried on a pair of TFDS in 29 which fit good, but I was shopping for my first pair of skinny jeans and so they were still kind of loose. TFDSS fits bigger than TFDS for some reason, and so when I ordered TFDSS I found that they were muchhhhh too loose. The denim is thick and when I wear them low on the waste they get a nasty sag in the ass which I hate very much. I've since concluded that I'm a 28 in TFDS and am probably going to get these.

It seems like alot of ppl are sizing down their tfdss to a point that their waist seems way too tight, just so that the leg can be slim like tfds. Why not just get tfds? Is tfdss REALLY different from the ds?

Yea? Are the tfdss heavier? How is the color different from the tfds? I recently bought a tfdgc, which is my first pair of finn, then I fell in love with the fit, so I wanna get another pair of finns which are not coated. Sooo I tried on a pair of tfds and I loved the fit and color and all, and I was also thinking of the dss but then if the leg is looser, I'm not too sure if I'm willing to size down so hardcore.. goddamn I dunno which to get..

hi i am new in this forum. but ive been reading alot n LOTS of useful information ;)
and i thinking of getting this bad boy for my next purchase.
i have sjodee. 30/32. i usually wear 30's but this pair was kinda tight on my waist so now it kinda stretched and fits pretty good.
anyways ive been reading this thread n people saying its a lil baggier except for the waist.
wut size should i get? im pretty skinny 5'11'' 145lbs (yes i kno im like a stick :( )
im thinking of getting 28/32. but i tried on other thin finns and 28 is too tight for me to button up :(
so should i be safe n get the 29? but i really like the skinny fit on thin finns so i dont want them to be a lil baggy.

Sized down 1 to a 29/32 and fit great, as I was more into "baggy" jeans.
Will post pics when I have some time:-x.

are you sure you can get urself done up somehow? the waist will stretch! did u see roiro's fit pic of the waist? he was definately losing some blood circulation but said it loosened up

personally, roiro's fit pic is enough to scare me away from ever downsizing. i'm sure the first week or two were excruciating for him -- however, props to him for sticking with it i guess. anyways, Cultizm's really good with returns. if you're gonna be wearing a pair of jeans all the time they should be comfortable.

Yeah it's werid as.. I can do the zipper half way up.
Maybe I've grown to a 32. No worries anyways I'm posting them back tommorrow, I'll say it again tho awesome jeans :)

Trust me, if u can zip up your jeans just half way, i would size up at least one! Otherwise it looks a little strange imo. My selvage Finns didnt stretch much in one month, maximum half a size.

Hey all,
Just received my size 31. (super quick postage thanks to Cutlizm)
its amazing, the 31 is tight but perfect around the waist, but its heaps weird that the leg space is much much more spacier than the 30. Feels like Ive got up 2 sizes up. Nether the less they still look like a slim jean. ill be sure to post some photos up very soon.

just want to say a big thanks to everyone for your feedback and advice with sizing.

cheers

actually, it doesn't hurt as much as shown on the picture. and they stretch alot so quick and it feels super comfortable on the waist now. feels like a 29" waist imo.

btw, here is my update on my dry stretch selvage finns. about 1month7days

roirio: Could you provide some fit pictures? You have an uncomfortable fit picture before, really wonder how it stretches and looks right now.

I'm using TFDS sz 31 and TFDGC sz 29 (tight). What's the not too tight size for me in TFDSS?

@kimbong : hm. you don't want to have a too tight fit right? hmm. maybe size 28 or 29 will do for you. how does the DGC fits you? super tight? i suggest 29 in tfdss maybe.

what is the measurement of thin finn's leg opening for w29 and w30? are they in between 7 to 7.5 inch? or are they just under 7

kimbong
2nd March 2009, 17:16
Hey Roirio, My true waist is like a little larger then 32, 32.5 maybe? I have a tfdbc in 30 and these in a 31 so I guess they are pretty much the same size right? I wanted to go for a more standard fit on these.

hey, could you post the TFDBC fit pics? i want to compare your fit between coated and selvage finns. thanks

This proves the point that no two jeans of the same style are the same in exact size proportions. Each garment has a unique fit, and that is why it is always much better to be able to try them on before you buy. Maybe another 30 would have fit exactly as you hoped for, but when we order online we have to work for an approximate fit
