Hi guys,

i've been lurking for a few months here and owns 3 nudie jeans of which 2 of them is dry. Now i've seen a lot of other threads with alternative brands for dry jeans but i havent seen one for the women...blasphemy! lol so do you guys know of any other dry jeans brand that carry a women cut or a unisex cut like nudies?

cheers guys :D

you're a girl? pics of you in dry denin please.
now that that's out of the way, there's a few brands to check out. I know Skull denim has their Linda cut , and Sling & Stones has a quite a few womens styles (rachel, sara, rebecca), available in natural or synethetic indigo. they're probably my favourite dry denim on girls.
not sure if it's a womens jean but here's a pic of some PBJ's..

and here's a pic of some sling & stones rachels...

thanks for the suggestion dib :) u can view a couple of photos in the nudie>dry stretch photo gallery in the forum for fit pics. i like my jeans relaxed so i don't like a tight fit. how is the sizing on skulls linda? i wear a 31 on tlj dirty dry stretch ( i could've size down 1 if i wanted to). what size do u reckon i should get on the skulls?

I think there's a link to a sizing chart on there. I don't have any experience with them, I'm a guy hahah. I'm familiar with sling & stones, as I have a pair of one of their men's jeans. you might have more luck on superfuture in the skull denim thread, I'm sure someone knows something about them.

well they're raw denim, so they should stretch. if in doubt, go for the smaller size.
about the first photo, I have no idea. definitely doesn't look bootcut, and they're not lindas (lindas are Skull denim, first pic i posted is Pure Blue Japen). looks like a straight or slightly tapered cut

The lindas are fantastic denim, and the S&S rachel organics are such a gorgeous colour. The latter have a super low waist. Anyway, I would suggest the lindas, and it's good that you like a slim fit because getting them tight = pain :P I'd love to see a fit pic too, when you get them!

SExSC02 is a unisex cut

http://www.selfedge.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=239

SE also got a Flat Head women cut

http://www.selfedge.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=68&products_id=318

BiG got a Somet women cut

http://blueingreensoho.com/site/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=4193&category_id=&manufacturer_id=36&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=28

BiG (www.blueingreensoho.com) can also special order items from companies they carry, which i think is really cool because most japanese denim brands actually do have a women's line though it may not well known outside of japan. look at their official sites or rakuten. fullcount has a womens line and samurai has the geisha line.

Julian Red is also cool

thinking of the FH Balder as my next jeans but it seems like it'll be a tad hard to get a correct sizing because of the massive shrinkage after a soak. im gonna pick up my lindas this afternoon though so finger crossed that it will actually fit me ><;

I find too many of the women's cuts are so low in the rise that they require a bikini wax to wear them. It brings back nightmare-ish images of Cameron Diaz.

The narrow boot is supposed to be the replacement for the kim, and as much as I love it, it's just no Kim.

I tried a pair of the Even Steven in the dry grey and they look amazing on girls! I love them love them love them. No stretch finally!!!!! If you have really slim legs the Grim Tim looks amazing on girls too.

If you are looking for an altogether new brand you should try LOVA jeans. They are a men's jean, but they fit me pretty well. They are dry, stiff and the back pockets are super simple. They are also making their shirts and sweaters in men's xxs. I am pretty excited to get some shirts.

i find that with most of the mens jeans, the rise is too high. The slim kim is just perfect with a 8.5" rise. That's maximum for me :P

Update,
I received my skulls linda 2 days ago and i found out that i couldnt button any of the buttons up at all :( but after a 1/2hr soak and putting a clothes hanger on the waist overnight, i've managed to wiggle into these! its still very very tight as you can see. .i'll wear them around the house for about a week and it should be okay then i hope.....man my hips is pretty sore from trying to wiggle in into these lol

what do you guys think of the fit?

Jibboom
23rd July 2008, 14:40
They look good, I like the fit (and it's nice to see a girl wearing jeans that aren't tight all the way down). You can tell how tight they are from the way the fly looks though haha, I'm sure they will be much comfier when you've stretched them out a bit.

Does the hot soak not affect it's rawness, if you see what I mean? So if you just soak, and don't use detergent, you won't lose the extra ink that you want to rub off as you wear them naturally?

This reminds me of Mum's old fables of purchasing jeans back in the 60's when they were all unsanforized, and sitting in the bath with them on until they shrunk to your own size! Has anyone done that, or do you just chuck them in alone? This could solve the shrunk-too-much issue..

Am dying to get some Flathead Balder jeans when they're back in stock, but have no idea what size to get. I'm 26 in Nudie Dry, or 25 in Dry Comfort, so figured a 28 and then downsize to fit with shrinkage?

As for the proper point of this thread, I own dry denim in other brands than Nudie, these being Sass & Bide 'The Dexy', Tsubi 'Lean Beans', Edun, Good Society 'Straight', and some Levi's that are too short. The Good Society jeans are on sale on Revolve right now, I bought a pair yesterday for $47, very similar in cut to Nudie Slim Kims; they're out of the Straights now but still have 'Bootcut'. Revolve also have SK's in Organic Dry Ecru. :-)

I've been trying forever to find a pair of Rock & Republic 'Costello' in Raw too.. I missed out on a pair awhile back on ebay and have lamented this loss ever since!

im not too sure if a hot soak would affect the fading...it should just be a maximum shrink you can attain from the jeans.

i too am looking to buy the fh balder jeans but unsure on what size to get >< i'd be a loose 31 on nudies TLJ. i thought the sizing table in SE says that size 28 will fit a 32 waist but then will have to minus 1.25 to account for shrinkage on the waist. if that's correct the post-shrink size would be 30.75"?

uuuu i want the slim kim dry organic ecru but they don' t have my size anymore *cries

I really like the look of those Linda jeans, but God knows what size I'd be in those, either. The waist measurements of the 0 is the same as on my SK's currently after a good few months' wear. I was going to get the size 1, but given the potential for shrinkage perhaps the 2 would be better? :-|

Hard work using that Japanenglish language website, too! :-x

FrankieP
24th July 2008, 12:05
That sounds about right, Lemon, but you're comparing the size 31 Nudies to an actual waist measurement. My size 26 Nudies measure 29 on the waist. Measure the waist of your best-fitting jeans, and go off that as a comparison as the actual waist on your size 31 TLJ's will be larger than 31" if you see what I mean.

Argh and bummer on missing out on the Ecru.. see if Revolve can do a special order for you.

What TLJ's do you have, too? Mine are dry Comfort, and I'm a size less in those. I just bought the Dry Black Coat too, fingers crossed they fit! You're in Aus? I got them from MyCatwalk.com.au. xx

pekklemon

you can ask shinichi from fabfour for advice on which size you should get based on your measurement. let me know if you want his email address. He speaks English quite well. They measure their waist differently so make sure you ask specifically how to measure your jeans.

i have a tlj dirty dry and atm is abit loose on me which i dont mind at all. hehe i don't know, i'm iffy about spending $300+ on a jeans that i can't try...

yeah im from aus. i've been looking for the dry black coated tlj for awhile in my size. No luck so far :( i had to settle with the grey one instead. but im not complaining, the grey one also looks awesome!

24th July 2008, 13:04
Yeah wouldnt mind getting a pair of grey coated.

BTW pekkle, your fit looks like my OLAS, tighter up top, looser but not much at the bottom yet doesnt look skinny. Is it a bit long?

i asked fabfour to hem it to 34" from the original 36". and i am 169cm so there is a reasonable stack whick i like :D

Wow.. big deal, huh? Look at the time stamps, I did some looking around at sizes for lemon and then came back and posted. My last post was 15mins after the second, on most forums you can't edit after 10mins so I didn't bother trying. The second post was about Lemon's reply, which had come whilst typing the first one. Seemed clearer to just leave it as a reply, rather than editing it into the first post just so that some tool wouldn't complain about my multiple posts.

So, very sorry for that, but I guess that's the difference between using a forum to try and make useful posts helping other people, and using these boards to just make snarky comments out of nowhere on nothing of any consequence. You bored today? Get a hobby.
