Here's an update on my current denim project. Nudie RRDS 31/36 worn for 7 months and not washed yet. Unless anything unexpected happens, my plan is to keep on wearing these until 01 May 2008 before the first wash:

Thought I'd post another picture just for show, I realised my other pictures didn't have the new ralfs underneath them and this one did!

Here they are New with no washes, maybe a months worth of wear or so. You can see that grey metal colour they had, which i personally really like, can't find that in japanese denim. So Front and back of those. Alongside are my old Jims, and a pair of samurai 5000vx

This is after the 1st Wash (Cold cycle 20c), I went fishing in adelaide (I'm from melb) and only brought one pair of jeans with me and they got ruined by fish guts and stuff. Not visible stains but they stunk like something awful. Maybe around 3 months at this stage. As you can see theyve lost their gun metal grey colour, much more blue now. That is my friend Andy in the picture, he was my room mate while I lived away from home.

This is after a 2nd Wash (Hot wash, normal cycle 60c) , I think I just didn't like the colour at the time, it was maybe around 5 months at this point but I really have no idea, i don't count the days. But yeah the main thing i did this time was wash it hot 60c and put it through the full spin cycle like a regular pair of jeans. Kinda ripped all the colour out of them, but even though they looked like ass I still wore them.

I am guessing this is around 7 or 8 months or maybe more, I didn't wear them everyday though, I wore them in and out with my evisu jeans and some other jeans that got sold off. You can see that they've got that musty dirty look to them. My honeycombs also never lined up after I washed, which annoyed me because I never saw the new creases fade after the first wash. Wasn't feeling the bootcut at the time, tried to emulate a AJ type fit after trying it on and loving it. Tapered from the inseam into a straight leg. Worked out ok. Cost about 30AUD

Pics are crappy, still figuring my camera out, and they are slightly darker than that in real life...but the fading has come amazingly since I washed them.

My Nudie RRDS - around 6 months of everyday wear, no wash.

Good booty wear from biking everyday.
Images are pretty true to color, maybe a tad bright depending on your monitor.
A couple more months and I might wash them.

An obligatory post at one week and two days, I was bored enough to post an update, or something like it. These ralphs are amazing. So glad I snatched them before it was too late. Contrary to what the lighting in these pictures suggests, all areas of creasing already have some fading developing. Wallet fade at nine days. Completely different experience from my Olas.

The Greycast Ralphs are nearly a month old (a month tomorrow), but figured I'd post now anyway.

As you can see, they are long, but I actually like having the hems heavily abraded. They have softened considerably since day one, for better or worse.

A little early (two months on the 15th), but you get the idea. They are coming along as well as could be expected. This was taken in natural lighting (in the shade). A slight distraction is coming in the mail, but I intend to keep going with these for another two months or so. I'll probably wash in celebration of the end of the semester. *shrug*


Long story short, I fell in a river (during a series of events that were completely worthwhile). Consequently, the ralphs got their first impromptu soak. Fair enough I suppose. :lol:

So guys, here are some post-wash pics for my TFDS 28/32. They are washed at 3 months++.

Note:
They didn't seem to get significant contrasts post wash, I tried putting the temp at 60 degrees but my washing machine's screwed so they might be washed cold. I was a bit disappointed initially but I decided to keep on wearing them as hard as possible (maybe in rotation with TFUIC). One thing I love is the zippo fading on the coin pocket

they have been cold washed twice and cold soaked twice in between those washes. yesterday i did a hot wash for them at 60 degrees.

here's how they look post hot wash (still a bit damp).

i'm very happy with how they are turning out after a very disappointing first wash
So, after the first wash, i decided that i will wear the sh*t out of them

They will be retired (as in not going to be worn everyday anymore) and I will be wearing my SEXI04 indigo from now on. I will post better fit pics of them later.

I don't have before wash pictures, but here are my TFDS after wash pictures. They're about 16 months old. For the first 4 months I've worn them on and off and have been washed a couple times. Then I started wearing them everyday for a whole year. Barely washed them today in the washing machine and then hang dried. They're size 30x32.

These are my Olas, my first and only Nudies which, at 11:27am this morning, turned one month old in my possession. :D Seemed like an appropriate anniversary to post a progress update.

Just some of the details, the knee fade having already started to develope and the lap wiskers already peeking through the indigo. The Ola is reputed to be slow to the fade, but I am satisfied. Perhaps it has something to do with these being my first dry experience, and things are supposed to go faster, but I would say I expected these to be more resilient/stubborn.

And something interesting that most others might not see is the fraying and extra heavy fade on the side of the right thigh.

I always carry my denim shoulder bag on that side, so of course, it's going to see some unique fading. ;)



I actually have a question, it hasn't been long since I posted last but I have been noticing something.

Is it just me, or does it seem that the top half of the jeans are a distinctly different shade of blue than the lower half? The light source is centered overhead mind you, and i have noticed it in broad daylight as well. Is that common, and is that the snus I always seem to read people referring to particularly on the site? I should think that after a few months, this would be amplified a bit.


I know I haven't washed yet, four months away yet, but this is a progress thread and I am bored at the moment so I decided to make a transition post. I only have two good pictures of the olas when they were new so I struck the (almost) exact same poses and compared the results. You can't see fading details in the "after" shots, the lighting is horrible. But I think this could serve for those interested in how jeans sort of transform to accomodate their human hosts over time (in this case, 8 days shy of two months).

If the pictures don't speak for themselves, the jeans are worlds more comfortable at this point, and I welcomed the stretching which is vaguely visible. This for me, is a perfect fit.

It's subtle now, and I know everyone is all about craaaazy contrasts (which is great!) I like the subtle stuff. And just because it is washed doesn't mean this story is over, silly. I look forward to these guys' continued fading!

Doing a little update tonight. Remember how I told you guys I had never kept my wallet in the rear pocket until after the first wash? That was about two and a half weeks ago.

The color is a little different as the first is outdoors, but no contrast cranking. Just the back. Pretty crazy, I definitely think that the rate of fade was increased a good bit after the first wash. The wallet fade popped up in no time at all. Not that I would recommend a pre-wash before wearing or anything crazy like that, but still, pretty interesting.


Well Doc, it all reminds me of this one time my father took me to the circus.

I think I like the outcome a good bit. I had a friend take a picture for me instead of my usual do it yourself job. It came out looking pretty much like the real thing.

Not bad, they faded a little more than I expected. So much love has been poured into these Olas, but I really want to move onto another pair. Is that a bad thing?

No new wash or anything really, but I took this picture for fun, and the patina came out just about perfectly (according to how it looks in real life) so I am throwing it up here. Even though these are "done", I still can't get enough of them. :mrgreen:

they are shiny liek hell and smell so bad :P.. a can febreze can't help.. i spilled litres of beer on them.. food.. sweat of going out.. not normal anymore :P and today i spilled garlic oil on them.. so i have to wash them..

tommorrow i will soak them in water while wearing.. and hang them in the sun to dry.. i want to dry clean them.. but i don't have a steamery close

Since i soaked my greycast they are going hard.. maybe because i'm rocking them harder then ever :P?.. i notice they are becoming lighter in direct sunlight and they smell like shit in 2 weeks after the soak.. (went clubbing, fishing, fixed my bike.. got milk over them and got wet by rain..)

here is my story:

This jeans was a once in a lifetime project, discontinued in 04' or something..
the original is selvage and very loose, with my stupid butthead I followed the hype and let it tapered
GONE sweet selvage line!
The model was like an oversized regular ralf and the color was nice and bright
I can still remember I was surprised by the fact the jeans felt so soft(in comparison to my RRDG)

Day one was november 23rd, been worn pretty much every day since then, no washes yet.


Alright, these aren't anything special compared to the work MHP did on those ralfs, but I haven't seen many worn in Joe's at all so I figured it couldn't hurt to get some pics up.

These have been worn for about 6.5 months daily. Washed first at 4.5 months due to smell and dirt built up. Washed again at 6.5 months for pretty much the same reason. Both washes were at the hot setting on the machine(I'm assuming it was 60*C, don't know for sure).

Couldn't figure out how to get the flash off on my friend's camera, I'll try and get some better shots with natural lighting and maybe a few more detail shots another time. The color is pretty accurate even with the flash though.


Here are some better shots of my AJDH with natural lighting. I had a small hole tear open in the crotch last weekend, I repaired it but it looks like I'll have to do some more work on it after wearing them through the week. Enjoy.

decided to machine wash them to try and get them down a little in size. 60 celsius no detergent. color is much more accurate in the post wash pics, Taking pictures on the grass was not a good idea apparently...

Vinyljunkie LVC S501XX 1944 WWII Edition

These are the jeans I love the best, Levis 1944 S501xx, they have so many nice features such as pockets made from shirt old cloth due to government regulation during WW2 for saving cotton and metal. Unfortunatley these a bit too losse imo, would like to get em slimmer, so these don�t fade that quick. I got em since last year, but wore em one-two times a week, they had two hot soaks but n washes yet.

S501XX 1944 WWII Edtion, worn about 1 1/2 year, but NOT everyday, had 5 washes,
the last 6 weeks I wore em 5 days a week during my work on a horse ranch, faded like hell
in this short time, the wrinkels on the ankle appeared in that time aswell as the hole which
was from a nail accident... I think this work produces very nice and real vintage looking effects...
