I think this is a really hard one. the old samBK 710 I think it was is really nice, and yeah someone posted a pair of vintage levis, late 40's or something. worn by a cowboy back in the day. fades from where hit lit his matches and whatnot.
as for the context jeans, I really don't know who to vote for when the time comes... tough one. so many nice pairs, and different.

Naoto's Denime's are def. also up there, but I prefer the cut of his 1001xx, maybe that made me biased

I like the faded PBJ 006. The ones that are leaning on a chair.

yeah, i prefer smooth denim fade. The fade on pbjs slub denim and onis, looks like the denim is just pilling, which imo, looks horrible. Samurai slub is about as slubby as I'm willing to go.

cameland

yeah the 006, 008 denim is non slubby, lightweight and dyed in a lighter colour, its made for vintage-esque fading. Really nice, one of my favourites.

These kind of threads are useless without pics. So I'll up the ones I said.

Worn by the lovely naoto

with straight legs the inseams tend to twist w/wash and wear, its odd but cool imo.
Not sure if it happens w/sanforized denim, but it's very common w/japanese jeans.
I THINK ive heard of some Slim Jims having the inseam twist.

Both of thsoe are NICE...

unsanforized denim has this leg twisting when it's soaked/washed, when they shrink, it causes the leg to twist in the direction of the weaving... LHT and RHT twist in opposite directions, had nothing to do with wear or straight legs whatsoever, it's normal...

slim jims twist has to do with wear I guess... cause unsanforized denim never gets a legtwist from shrinkage as far as I know...

you kids still got alot to learn ;-) (good try tho cabl3, you're getting there)

haha, thanks Tiro!

but what is the process of sanforizing then?

Unsanforised denim can actually twist as well, although not as extreme, if the pattern is cut wrong, it can twist almost as much. Conversely, the pattern can be purposely cut to twist and stack, it would look like a S shape or J shape. Refer to new levi's red range or CCP twisty jeans.

I had a pair of finns which twisted all the way around on my left leg. Usually if you get a pair of twisted seams you should return it and get a new one. Its a product defect.

Most denimheads embrace leg twisting in unsanforised denim because its "traditional" and vintage like. I'm impartial to it, don't like it but I don't hate it.

haha, thanks Tiro!

but what is the process of sanforizing then?

It's a process of high heat and pressure to prevent all shrinking. It's also why sanforized jeans will have that sheen to them.

The worst/best part about it is that they only 6 months wear each. The man is a crazy jean wearing machine.

yeah but there is the difference to me
with unsanforized denim, it's normal that the leg twists, due to the shrinking process, with sanforized denim, as the shrinking process should been taken care of (theoretically) the leg shouldn't twist, so when it does, it's due to a defect or due to a human error, wether it be on purpose or not...
also, I guess the twisting is also influenced by the weave, as my DJ's have virtually no leg twist, yet they are unsanforized...
then again, they might develop a bit of legtwist after a real wash, dunno, my oni's also had very little leg twist, where my denime's had alot more...

I def. feel a bigger attraction to unsanforized denim actually and I like legtwisting, not so much for the authenticity, but I feel so much more love for a pair of jeans that I had to pre-soak, it's like, they start out as a jeans that isn't yours, then you soak them and they really become yours...
am I making sence here?:mrgreen:

to talk about Naoto's jeans wearing talent, I dunno, maybe he is blessed, as far as I know, he doesn't do anything that is really special, he soaks to get the starch out, then he wears em, also, I remember him telling me, he can work from his home, so it's not like he would do crazy things at work... then again, you never know, maybe he's mynudies version of Jacky Chan :-P

Yeah even with my job which is just a sit at home or at the studio but I tend to run around a lot, sit on streets and roll around under cars to fix them and what not, but I guess since I wear so many different pairs it's not gonna be quick but take a while, which is what I'm glad cause I don't really want mine to wear that much.
