As the title says

Does the waist in pre washed olas stretch. and does the thighs?

I searched through the whole ola thread to make sure there hasnt been a thread about it.
It was all dry vs pre washed sizing for which size to get

thanks

My-prewashes in general have stretched abit. But pre-washes don't stretch as much as dry so don't size down expecting that they'll stretch out.

andi1

nah. i'm not sizing down ay.
getting my true to waist size.
but gosh they are tight as.....
that's why wondering would they stretch out more

cameland

They will still stretch, all denim stretches. If you want to facilitate it further, consider wetting the bits of you want stretched and then putting wateva stresses on it eg. squatting, moving etc.

Nudzorz

if you got your true waist size, then why are they tight?

They should already fit..

they do fit.

bit too fitted. i got muscly thighs.
seriously i looked like a stuffed sausage when i had it on

loste

they will strech out in some weeks of wear. But a bootcut ola is a tight pair of jeans, maybe you should have bought one size larger since you have large thighs.

yeah speak of the devil.
got my ralfs today.
i ordered 29s from cultizm. but sent them back and ordered 28/32s

hoping they stretch to a 29 including thigh wise

Not trying to sound like a dick, but you got ralfs because your olas were too tight in the thighs. Then you buy a sized down Ralf with hopes of them stretching out a size including in the thighs:confused::-?

Please explain, because I need clarification.

cameland
27th August 2007, 14:56
lol I was wondering about that too. From my experience though, my size 30 ola fit very similar to the painfully small size 28 ralfs I tried on at a store.

Ok.

I just thought it was kind of strange.

Did he seriously say he returned the 29s for 28s, in hope they fit like 29s?

yes. i seriously did return my 29s for 28s. problem?

i read on this forum that people say should size down as the ralfs will stretch anyway.

reason i was thinking of getting the 29s in olas is the muchachos. sample pair also only one pair. but fits tight. i tried on a pair of 30s in pre wash olas they felt better.

that's why in first place i asked if the pre wash olas stretch out. since it was tight

1) what are muchachos?

so what exactly are the differences between the Ralfs/Alfs and the Ola's. Are the ola's suppose to be a slightly lower rise? but still bootcut? I guess the bit i'm slightly confused about is that the Ralfs say they are bootcut, yet the Ola's are bootcut as well, so is the only difference is that the Ola's are a lower rise and that's it?

They are two very different cuts.

The ola is very tight in the legs, lower rise, different denim, etc.

Hey guys,

I bought a pair of Regular Alf 28 x 32" Dry Selvage jeans a few weeks ago, and I'm now thinking about getting a pair of Bootcut Ola Dry jeans. Could you please give me some advice on sizing for the Olas based on the following information about how the Alfs fit me?

Generally the fit of the Alfs is really good: it's pretty slim (which I like), unlike the way it's depicted on the Nudie website, and it's more or less just the right length. The only problem is that it's not tight enough around the butt: when I stand up straight, it bulges out at the butt instead of following the shape of my butt, and this looks pretty bad, especially from the side.

So I've got two questions:

(1) If I bought a pair of Bootcut Ola jeans with a 28" waist, would it be tight enough at the butt that there's wouldn't be a bulge problem, even after the jeans started to stretch out from being worn?

(2) Since the Bootcut Ola sits lower than the Regular Alf, does that mean that the bottom ends of the legs of Olas that are 32" long would be lower than the bottom ends of the legs of Alfs that are 32" long? My Alfs end about an inch off the ground when I stand up straight, and that's how I like it. (I don't like dragging jeans on the floor or stepping on them with my heels.) Would Olas of the same length end up on the ground because of the fact that they sit lower than Alfs?

Thanks.

Nudzorz
13th December 2007, 03:35
The length of the inseam will not change. And due to the lower rise, I would size up if I were you. Don't worry, they'll still be a tighter fit.

actually i've asked it before....
i bought one pair of nudie ola, and they said it's dry cleaned....
is it still any possible to fade?
does dry cleaning make more indigo losses? thx....

Thanks, Nudzorz and cabl3.

Different question: from reading around in this forum, I've gotten the impression that many people regard the Bootcut Ola as being made of exceptionally low-quality material. I am thinking about getting Dry Bootcut Olas. Is the material so low-quality that I shouldn't even bother? Just how durable are the Olas compared to typical jeans? I'd love to hear as many opinions as possible.

DoitsuJin
17th December 2007, 17:58
i think coni would come to defend his honor. ;)

but to be honest, the BO is probably made of the worst denim nudie has... that isn't a good thing but denim is denim. they're still durable, they just feel lighter and flimsier than the other models.

Nudzorz
18th December 2007, 00:57
I own Ola. It's not shitty denim by any means, and it won't fall apart, it's just thin, lightweaight denim(11.5oz). I don't wear mine now because it's too cold, but during summer they're the only thing I can stand to wear.

Eden
22nd December 2007, 10:32
I would recommend getting a 29 in Ola's...they are a slimmer fit overall and a 28 may be too tight for you.
Like Nudzorz said, they will be slimmer overall around your ass if you're worried about that.

I want to raise the sizing issue again. My number one reason for wanting to get Olas is that my 28 x 32" Alfs are so loose around the butt when I stand up that they produce a very unsightly bulge. I'm a little worried that if I buy 29 x 32" Olas instead of 28 x 32" Olas, the bulge will reemerge after I wear the jeans for a bit. Even assuming that the 29 x 32" Olas will be tighter than the 28 x 32" Alfs around the butt, will they be tight enough not to produce any bulge?

Unfortunately, they don't sell Olas in my city and I don't have any way to try them on. (I was going to buy them through Kitchener.) I have a vague memory of reading somewhere that the top of the Ola is just like the top of the Slim Jim. Is this true? If it is, since my local store sells Slim Jims, I could go try those on in various sizes to see how tight the Olas would be around the butt.

No, they have a lower rise than SJ, and I believe the thighs may be a bit tighter too. You could always order both sizes from Revolve (if they have both) and return the one that doesn't fit you for free.

Question on waist size (trying to decide between 28" and 29"):
I'm about 5'9 145-150lb, looking to buy 1st pair of olas. I wear my jeans a little low with a 28 or 29 inch inseam. I want the jeans to bit fitted and not have any lose areas on the thigh or butt but I don't want them to look or feel excessively tight. I'd like to go with the 28 so I don't have to worry about them stretching too much and so that they might wear a bit more quicky but will they be too tight?
thanks

if you are able to try them on prior to buying it would be fantastic. the reason is, trying them on in person is the best way to decide which size to get. sizing down (at least 1 size down) is always the number one rule for my in getting a pair of dry denim. good luck! :)

Look different from the current dry Ola's as far as color and stitching, and addition of elastin. Must admit, I still have a false hope that perhaps they are made of higher quality denim than the standard dry ola's.....

Would be very surprised if they were a diferent cut. The Ola's always look high rise on those Cultizm mannequins. I have the other Ola's from cultizm (the "dry light" which is just the dry Ola) and they are the same fit as other Ola's I've tried)

I like the slightly lighter blue- might turn out relatively light (for Ola's) after a year wear and a wash.

trying to identify a reason why these Ola's might be made with heavier and higher quality denim....

I gather they would name such a model with heavier denim in the Ola cut by a different name altogether. Why change a model with established reputation that already sells so well?

Are they the same denim as the Thin Finn Organic Ecru Embro?

Cause thats a 10.5oz denim with elastane, which actually sounds interesting. I wonder if the BOOEE will have the copper buttons like the TFOEE.

I'll get a pair in the future, but like everyone else i want to see what the denim is like.

i think you shouldnt hem your Olas . They shrink alot in lenght after a wash, and shirnks a little bit more with the second wash.

ejmeg

yes! i agree do not hem them shorter. once u wash em, they will shrink maybe 2 inches so they would be perfect. trust me, i have a pair now that are too short.

2nd March 2008, 03:26
Not to mention that the honeycombs will cause the jeans to bunch up and thus cause them to shorten a bit. Mine have "lost" an inch or so due to that. I normally wear 30" inseam, but the 32" length is perfect for me now.

Bootcut Olas are SLIM. I'd strongly suggest not sizing down unless your waist is abnormally and proportionally way larger than your thighs. Dry light is dry and will fade over time (as the name implies). Rich blue is a pre-wash and won't fade like dry's. The longer your wear them, the more they fade. So if you're looking for a dark blue to last longer, throw them in the wash right away when you get them. That'll make fading a slower process. You can search for photos in the photo album at the top of the page.

Dry Japan is a certain hue/dye job. Yes, it's dry as well. Dry Japan fades relatively fast and has high contrast. Nudies are by no means stiff...especially the Bootcut Olas and Slim Jims, thin as hell.

I sized down, and while they were pretty tight the first couple days, they do stretch a good amount. Enough so I can actually use my pockets again. :) And I probably have the largest legs I know of anyone (large enough that I literally cannot fit into Kyrres).

i think bootcuts are great, after wearing the "fad' super tight jeans, i don't ahve the same love for slim as i do for bootcuts. slim bootcuts are wonderful... possibly the best cut around.
they should really add more washes to Ola's please..

mmm, that'd be interesting to check out in the forum.

i've had a few nudies in the past [rrds x2 + olas], but've been nudie-challenged for awhile now. any of you guys got anything bout a possible [heavy olas] in the works? wouldn't mind updating/upgrading to a pair__ that'll especially nice in a masa denim.

I need some new jeans like the Olas!

They were perfect for my body type and I'm ready for another pair.

What fits are currently available from Nudie that fit the same in the waist/seat/thigh as the Olas?

I dont need the boot cut (i actually had it taken out of the Olas a bit by a tailor before I started wearing them). So straight legs would be perfect.

Any suggestions? I"m a 30x30 if that helps.

I wore my Olas for 5 years, 2 years before washing them. I'm running out of places to wear them, as the patching is getting to be a bit much and I want a new pair.

btw, this is my first post and i'm stoked on the forum. Looking forward to chatting with everyone.

Yeah, what is similar to the bootcut olas from nudie right now?
I'm a 30x32, like the low rise, the thigh fit is great and the leg opening is perfect for me.
In other words, I've had my b.o.'s for a few years now and the only thing I want is to replace them but can't find them anywhere so now I'm resorting to finding something similar. Help please.
