and if u wear Converse, how do you wear them: with ur jeans in or just out(over) the shoe?

i have a bootcut eddy in case u needed that info

Of course u wear converse to your Nudies... the jeans should be OUTSIDE the shoes, or "uprolled" (haha) as knickers.... =)

Im into my 4th pair of black converse! They doesnt hold that long... max. 1 year.

bootcuteddie
1st May 2004, 17:47
k, so outside the shoe, and with that u mean: the whole jeans over ur shoe r turn up the last 5 cm?

u know next year u should buy the blue-'jeans'-like converse shoes instead of the black ones:P r do u have a reason for black ones???

uzzi

All look great. I dont have any converse :D... id prefer vans anyway

Well, today it's Loose Franks and white Vans, but normally it's Converse or a dead comfy pair of chunky Ecco black boots. They also look good with my blue hi-top Pro-Keds. IMHO, I think the jeans look cooler with hi-tops or boots than regular trainers - what does everyone else think?

bootcuteddie

i dont think we even have Vans in the netherlands lol. i didnt even know what they looked like till i saw a pic on google 5 secs ago lol. tho i think id prefer converse

Added a pair of white Puma's to wear with my Nudies now.

Soon I'll probably get a pair of chocolate brown New Balance 574.

I've been wearing Pro-Keds with my Nudies recently as well - the quality's much better than Converse, and they're a bit less widespread, especially here in the UK. I have a pair of blue hi-tops and a pair of brown regular ones. They're dead comfy and they don't wear out as quickly as Converse.

but if you wear vans slip-ons or converse to LF you should have a pair of sneakers like Nike or some Rowley model from vans. no leather or suede shoes here.

I have Nike Dunk Lo as well but I think the quality is rubbish - I don't think I'd buy another pair of Nikes, the last 4 pairs of footwear I've bought have been 3 Adidas (red & gold Instinct Hi, blue & orange Shoshan, black Pro Model) and 1 Puma (white Majesty) and I find them better made than the Nikes personally.

blurr
28th February 2005, 02:06
I've had a pair of Nike dunk lo's for nearly a year now and their still in good probably near perfect condition, then again I do rotate my trainers... having 8 pairs helps :) so at least one for every day of the week! I must admit when it comes to trainers lasting, Gravis and New Balance have to be up there near the top, while Converse and Vans at the bottom. Converse and Vans seem to fall apart after about a months wear... but I'm guessing thats why they're so cheap!

reason I like the Nike blazers is that they're a nice alternative to Converse, as everyone here wears Converse!

The shoes I usually wear in combination are:
Nike dunk low (brown, mint green and cream)
Vans old school high heel (same as in the little nudie book, but got them b4 I got my nudies :P)

These are actually not the ones I have but almost look the same.
I wear my nudies with them almost permanently ;p dont know what typ, bought them at a skatestore almost 1.5 years ago, but they are still going along nicely. Even though they've lost quite some colour and are grey now (the original blue is gone only some indigo from my nudies :))

I have vans sk8 hi and onitsuka's too but the vans are not really my style so i kinda regret that i bought them, and the onitsuka's are too low, i always have to wear foldups (and that sucks imo) My next shoes will be either converse black leather or new nike dunk sb's.

Sorry if thats your thing, but i think its starting to get obnoxious.

25th October 2005, 03:01
They aren't that clunky... they're only slightly fatter than normal Nike Dunks which are based on basketball trainers. The only reason they look big is because I'm wearing *gasp* Slim Jims.

They're far thinner than normal skate trainers like DC's or Etnies.

What I can't stand is that everyone seems to wear a pair of Converse All*'s just to look 'alternative'

Thorns
25th October 2005, 04:08

I wear skater shoes (DC) not because im trying to create a certain image, or to skateboard but because in my opinion they are the most comfortable shoes out there. And besides, why is everyone so concerned with the type of shoes a person wears? Just focus on what you like to wear and let others wear what they want.

There's a shop in London, near Soho, called Busy Work Shop. So if you're based in England pop in there next time you pass London. Alternatively, if you know what you want, you can give them a call and they can do mail order over the phone.

Most Acupuncture shoes are dead hideous. Somehow they managed to put out this rad pair not too long ago. They have been my favorite for some time and are worn to heck now.

I'm interested in some of those Red Wing boots I keep seeing (on blue blood website and some nudie dearlers)...anyone ever own some? Real expensive though.

Red Wing boots are great shoes. I had a pair in high school that I wore for atleast four years. They're the kind of shoes that only get better with age...and they'll last you forever. I really wish I knew what happened to mine

Just like it says in the book, leather is the only fabric to become as beautiful as denim with wear. That's why the jump boots from the army surplus I've had for four years are my favorite pair of shoes by far, all beat up and distressed. Funny when I saw distressed shoes being sold (Diesel, ha) and thought about mine. However, it is time for a new pair as these are starting to get holes. It'd even be good to have a new pair get worn in along with my new RRDS. Also, Doc Marten's are a classic that shouldn't even need to be brought up but browsing this thread I only found one other person mentioning them! For shame people, for shame.

the yellow laces on the dunks perfectly match the nudie stitching, but yr right, the bootcuts look all crazy stupid when they get caught behind the tongue of the dunks-----they get all flat and look like Napoleon's hat. Oh yes you can. I have a Clarks store by me, and brought them in when I saw they were going to wear down, and they gave me a prepaid envelope to some company that does Wallabee resoleing. If you're in need, I'd be happy to pick you up one the next time I'm there. Cost me 50 bucks each time, and lasted about two-three years between wears.

Wow, metaquotes. To me, $50 for resoling Wallabees is kinda wack. Right now, at UBIQ in Philly, they've got pairs of green suede Wallabees and dark brown leather wallabees on sale for $50. Tempted by the green suede, but to me only the tan wallabees will do it. All the rest seems like fakery. I'm starting to feel the same way about Chucks. Other than the usual black, white, red, blue, green ones, all the rest seem so lame-------kinda misses the point of the basicness (new word alert) of the shoe. THUS SPAKE DDML!

Hehe, you have a point there.
But I enjoy the fact that a basic such as the chuck gets so many different versions. The plain black and whites are worn by EVERYONE, now with the new fabrics and prints there is still a littel variety. I recently picked up leather ones which are also basic, but i like them alot.
Anyway, look at the nike dunk, that shoe is so ****ing nice because of all the different colourways and you see new crazy stuff coming out regularely even though its still the same shoe. I mean, tweed dunks wtf ? :) (BTW i would really like a pair of tweed dunks low, sz10 if you happen to come across any;) So basics = cool, but I tihnk the concept of 'updating' a classic can work out to be quite nice as well.

You can definately wear your rr with dunks, if thats what you like man
I personaly just dont like the look of it,
I'd prefer to wear them with straight jeans or a slight taper is nice as well, I dont know, bootcut just doesnt look very well on shoes that are slightly big (unless their kinda baggy, but then a bootcut is hardly nessecary or fitted).

clarks wallabees are in my opinion the greatest shoes i've ever come across. i've had mine for 3 or 4 years and worn them approximately 300 days each year and they are beat to shit. i've spilled everything you could imagine on them, but i don't want to get rid of them although they've stretched to all hell, because they're so comfortable because they're so broken in.

I really dont understand the popularity around slipons.
Sure they are comfortable and i dont mind if people wear them but they are ugly as hell yet somehow are now "accepted" as a fashion item.

New Balance for me, 860's at the minute. Classic design and are still comfortable unlike some of the Adidas I used to buy. Had a pair of Adidas Jeans before and I honestly don't know how runners wore them back in the day. I tried running down the street in them before and nearly done my knee in :D

I'm gonna second the sentiment. It doesn't really bother me that people wear them, but theres no way to argue that its an attractive garment. Slipons are just ugly by nature.

i wear them with super slim kims. i'll throw some pics at the forum at some point.

Tob
3rd May 2006, 19:27
heh, dunks look best with slimmer jeans. Not skintight, but just slim and fitted, with a little bunching up at the bottom. Bootcut or wide straight legged with big shoes makes your body look weirdly proportioned (is this good english ? i dont care). So for sneakers I'd say slim straight legged, or tapered.

Allstars do look good with a pair of nudies, shame that they're not very comfy, i can't walk in 'm all day... :(
Most of the time i wear sneakers, nike SB's, AM1's, superstars and yes sometimes my allstars (when i don't have walk much)
And when i'm not wearing sneakers it's boots or van Bommeltjes...
