I was browsing on the DTYD site.
And noticed they had new nudies and I really liked this one.
Thin Finn Ultra Indigo Coated!

Does anyone have experience with these jeans?
Because I'm actually thinking of buying myself a pair.

drydenimbabeeh
14th June 2007, 19:11
Good question wich I like to know too!

Ghost
14th June 2007, 19:17

drydenimbabeeh
14th June 2007, 19:19
And what's coated :P

mynamebrad
14th June 2007, 19:31
yeah, ULRA COATED! 8)

Vinyljunkie
14th June 2007, 19:31
coated means that the denim is somehow painted on the outside, with somekind of resin or wax, so I guess coated jeans take longer to break in...

Ghost
14th June 2007, 19:32
Yeah it's a waxy residue over the denim that rubs off with wear with adds to the fading of the denim beneath it.

drydenimbabeeh
14th June 2007, 19:36
Ohh ok thnx for the info guys!
Really looking forward to trying these on.
Anyone who has them already?
If so, post some fit pics pls.

Everytime I see the word Ultra I think of Killer Instinct the game for the SNES when you did an ULTRA combo, the announcer would go, "ULLLTRAAAAAAAA combo!"

Really a cool style. May be my next one. Anyone an idea of how its sizing compares to the Dry Black Coated? Is it similar? I'm a 30/34 in Dry Blue, but a 29/34 in Dry Back Coated... like the fitting of the 29/34 DBC most...

I thought the same thing--pretty dark. I wish they had lightened the dye a bit so the blue shows.

ThunFinn
19th November 2007, 21:45
I'd say the UIC runs the same as the DBC...im really really being tempted to buy these as well.

www.drytillyoudie.nl
has the TFUIC on sale right now..and they have your size too. 29/34

Thank you for the info. I'm just so glad with the fit of my DBC, I'm afraid I will be dissappointed by any other fit. So I truly hope sizing of the DBC an UIC is the same.

I'm always a bit hesitant with regard to ordering through the internet: I prefer trying my jeans on before buying. I guess I'll first try to find them in a local Dutch store or so...

the look black to start, but blue rubs off and in the sun they have a blue shine to them.

they have faded to white in some spots and other spots are a medium blue color. im only a month and a half into them so i cant wait to see what they look like after the wash.

they are very similar to the DBCs, and you won't be able to see the blue color at first. mine has been worn for 1 month max so I can't really tell you anything. I have the picture of them brand new with natural light in my photos section. (the one with the nudie bag) if that helps.

i dont understand these jeans, from the pics they look like regular dry blacks with a indigo coating perhaps? so instead of getting shiny black like the DBC, they get shiny blue with black undertones?

deviousfool

it's wax coated. they will only show the blue color if you look very very closely otherwise they look just black and shiny.

ok so, basically they are extremely dark blue, with wear the wax will make it shiny extremely dark blue,
then as the weft starts coming through it will turn a lighter blue?

if thats the case then i really dont know which i want, these or the dbc
too many options

I agree--you could have gone down one more size, but they still look good--TFs can be worn many ways.
I also would not rinse or wash them yet--let the shine get better and the wear show.

Gold Soaked Afternoon

I think they fit fine how they are. If you shrink them or had sized down they'll be pretty skin tight, and would probably make your legs look kind of disproportionate to your body. Dont worry about it, they look great how they are.

If you want to keep the coating and allow it to deveop a shine, then don't wash--leave 'em alone! The shine really develops nicely as you wear them in. I like how my tfdbc are getting a better shine and I hope to hold off on washing them for quite some time. If your'e worried about the smell that may develop, then just don't use them to work in or do strenuous activity that would make you sweat heavily. So, yes, the coating will wash out eventually.

I think you should experience dry denim first.

deviousfool
10th December 2007, 14:18
i agree with nudzorz, the coated denim doesn't fade as quickly as regular drys. however, it also depends on what you are looking for, if you want the wet leathery look, go for coateds, if you want more contrast in shorter period of time, go for dry stretch/comforts.

this is weird
i bought a 2 pairs of TFUIC off revolve (for sizing purposes)

the 30 measures 15" across
the 31 measures 16" across

wtf, the 31 is a bit too loose on me in the waist but i like the fit otherwise. why is it so much bigger than the 31. its 2 inches bigger!

if its too loose to start, then go with the smaller size for sure, 'cause they do stretch. When I first got my TFUIC's I could barely button the waist, now they barely stay up without a belt.

The fit kinda seems okay, though the back looks a bit weird. And your zipper is about half open, don't know if that's by accident or because they're too tight on the weist so you should take a look at that. Then just like everybody else said, your feet look BIG! I'd suggest you try to get some shoes that appear a bit smaller, with a thinner sole for example.. That will deffenitely look better.

I've had my Ultras since July and have worn em pretty much every single day since I bought em.

They've worn quite nicely, a little slower than I expected.
The glossiness has gone up obviously - the seat of the pants being the glossiest, and the legs, a little, too.
Some nice blue coming through in the places where they wear for me (wallet outline in the back, cellphone in left pocket, scratchiness of blue from my keys in the right)

Unfortunately, the crotch ripped open pretty bad last night. I nearly shed a tear as they are by far my favorite denim I've ever owned.

They're pretty tight on me, looser around the waist and butt and ankles, but tight on the thigh . . .
I wear a 34ish, but bought a 33 in these.

The jeans look pretty awesome - i'll try and get some pics soon.

Gotta have my friend stitch em up first . . . :-|

how much did they stretch dude?

did you buy them really tight when you got them?

fightattack
28th December 2007, 00:56
They stretched out pretty good.
They were really, really tight when I bought them - but it helped that they are a stretchy material.

The loosened up around the waste, butt, and a little around the thigh.
the crotch just stayed a little tight and wore a lot from chafing (one side rubbing against the other) and I think that's what weakened the material down to where it ripped.

I just bought a pair and the place i bought them from had free premium hemming service so i got them down to a 31 inseam, also they mentioned something about vinegar soaking on first wash for them to shrink nicely or something like that. But do some research on it since im not sure if they actually know anything lol.

bryanbzl
20th January 2008, 20:10
yea i never said initial soaking. i meant at first wash. Vinegar helps the indigo set, but it is only advised if you had noticeable fading that you don't want to completely be washed into colorless patches. I already got my pair, ill post fit picks soon.

edit: just discovered these photos are totally mammoth, I apologise lol, I'll resize next time, changed to links so as to not kill forums :)

Hey, new to the forum, although I have read through many of it's posts in this past couple of weeks, pre + post my nudie purchase, and am pretty inspired by a lot of what I've seen... anyway, I went with these ultra indigos for my first pair, possibly a bad introduction to dry denim, but I had initially gone with a pair of TFDBC, and then returned them to size down (well it was probably more like sizing to what is my more natural size), and decided that indigo was more fitting for a pair of nudies, but also didn't want to lose all the darkness, as I'm usually a black jeans wearer. Anyway, my input on the matter is that they are surely dark, not really black looking so much as very dark grey, and definitely no where near as dark as the DBC, and also I don't think they are anywhere near as coated as the DBC, mine aren't that shiny at all. Now that could be just the batch, but I wonder if maybe they gave up all hope of good fades on the DBC and just coated the hell out of it, whereas they knew that coating the UIC too much would kill it's chances of good contrast fade and didn't go to overboard.. just my probably clueless theory :)

anyway here's the requisite "how's the fit?" pics, which also show the colour off a bit, it is very dark :P all white crap is crap on the mirror not my jeans :P and thats my sisters room (only full length in the house), so ignore the bras and sewing equipment, and also ignore my angry look and questionable polo.

they're a 33 (I feel so big compared to many people on this forum :s) and have probably stretched to around what the 34 felt like I would say, a week or so in, hopefully they sit tight about now, I'm really happy with the present fit, if they stretch more than about another 1/4 or 1/2 inch though I'll definitely be needing a belt :P... oh and I normally stack them with shoes/boots, but for thongs/birks I cuff, I hate that "worn too long" fade :s

these are nowhere as slubby as the 007s.. also the 007s aren't coated, correct me if i'm wrong.
however, i do think that these will fade beautifully once all the coating is gone, with the dark blue contrast showing.

I'm willing to get one of these, don't really know about the size yet though.
I'm wearing a AJDBC in 30/32 atm, which was pretty tight in the beginning but now fits me alright after 3 months. I was thinking about a 30/34 with the TFUIC, because I want more stack, but if it really stretches out that much, maybe even a 29/34 would be ok. On the other hand, I don't want them to fit skin-tight like a leggings...
Do they stretch more than one inch in the waist? Can I prevent them from stretching too much by wearing a belt?

I also wondered, do Nudie jeans run tighter when the leg is shorter? Because with Diesel jeans you will have a tighter waist in size 30/30 than in size 30/32 for some reason. Does anybody know about that?

Indigo coated or ultra indigo coated?

Indigo coated = size down one or two, they are 100% cotton.

W34/L32. I usualy have W32 with Nudie Jeans. But i like te size, it is a tad to big but now i can wear them loose, which i prefer.

I own this pair and think they're fantastic. I had to wash them due to some mud in Austria, but they kept their sheen and rigidity. They look really shiny and beautiful. The Indigo especially, as it looks just almost black but has that touch of violet in it.

How much do these stretch? If I wear a 32 in SJ, is there any chance I could fit a 31? Thanks.

lol long story short, the lady from the laundry mixed my jeans up with other people's stuff so I asked for reimbursement.
I argued a lot and finally she gave me AUD200 back which is good

Where did you get them from?

Mr. Brinkles
16th October 2008, 14:47
keep wearing them and post updates on a monthly or bi-monthly basis
and never wash :-P

just so you know, these jeans dont turn out to be complete crap if you wash them...they actually fade, kinda like the ESBB's. but you will lose all the coating.

I still don't know if i am going wash them ;-) But that is for later, first i have to wear them a lot. By the way, can you explain what you mean with 'lose all the coating'. What is 'coating'?
