i like your collection alot, especially your LVC WW2 model, i recently bought a pair of Lee EU 101 B and just downright hated it, it had a haironhide patch and a cinchback but wasn't selvedge? it was sorta greencasted too.
Your LVC 517 turned out great too.

Hey thanks, yes the S501XX is my favorite aswell, but why did you hate the 101b, I think it´s a really good jeans for very good price, mine have yellowline half selvage... I must say actually that these jeans are a bit less green than on the pics...

lildavid you have a splendid mix of denims there, how long have you been in the game for?

It's funny though how i have accumulated all this knowledge about repros and levi's but know very little about Lee and wrangler. Is there there anywhere i can find out some info? The lees here look pretty cool.

I've always been interested in jeans but its for the last three years that i've really been gettin in to it.

www.lee.be has a pretty good timeline and you can find almost all the repromodels at http://lee-japan.jp. for wranglers the best site is http://www.wrangler-bluebell.com/ and if you dont already have Paul Trynka's book it is a definite must-buy

Selvage Roscoe is from the 2004 European X-line collection, and for the repros Lee 101Z 1952 is half selvage, but not like those euro 101's. This is with a real half selvage

Its pretty evident by this picture that the Masa is a different cut then the even steven. That yoke on the masa looks fckin massive!

Damn LilDavid your gunna have to start wearing two pairs at a time if you want to give these jeans the attention they deserve before you die. Bilmaga should submit his collection the way David did in this blog.

alright here it is, it's pretty concise, I have an RR greycast laying around that's way too big that I'll wear while I work this summer but this is the main three:

http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s181/Pachanga0986/IMG_2050.jpg

heres a close up of my 6 month old Italian Svens:

http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s181/Pachanga0986/IMG_2054.jpg

Ive had some weird experiences with RRL Jeans, my first pair was a the slimbootcut and they were almost an identical silhouttete of Ralf, they were my first dry pair, then I ordered the wrong size due to the sizing issues, then this pair I just bought off ebay for like $78 and they're 19cm  they fit and look is alot like the diors.. (oh and they're hank dyed too)

bilmaga
9th June 2007, 05:39
I thought it was just "air" in the point?

Ghost
9th June 2007, 05:39
Well yeah but as the shoe starts to narrow down it squeezes them in, non?

bilmaga

Yeah I guess.

It's funny how two people who don't even wear them are talking about it.

Ok, how about the guys that wear swear shoes? Do those hurt the toes?

rica
9th June 2007, 05:50
you guys are hilarious!! :D :D

the pointy shoes are not painful at all if you buy the correct size, and a good quality brand. there will definitely be some "air" room at the front of the shoes as we cannot squeeze all our toes into that tiny triangle.

the painful one is peep toes. i kinda hate wearing them, but because they make my feet pretty, i can't help but wear them according to what outfit i wear.

i need more shoes. and i'm heading to a shopping street in an hour... God bless me with my purchases....

Yeah what is swear shoes? Is there such a thing as sweat shoes? And Rica you don't need shoes to look pretty!

i dont even know there is something called sweat shoes. i just figured the closest thing from "swear" is "sweat" so i just shot some words.

anyway ghost, trust me, you need pretty shoes to make you feel pretty.

if there is a lesson i learnt from women magazines, it is this:
"an outfit is never complete without a pair of magnificent shoes."

Fit Pics

The lighting kinda sucked in these pictures, the pink walls in the room I took the pictures in kinda threw the white balance off but this is just to show the fit anyways.

My measurements:

Height: 170cm
Weight: 64kgs
True waist: 31"~32"

EDIT: RRDS have been recently altered to remove the bootcut, they are 19cm leg opening.

Yeah I think I'm beginning to pack on the kilos lately but I might look into selling the FHs. I had a couple offers before I even got them from some guys on sufu. The sams are also a little tight in the hip and somehow I can only imagine that becoming worse when I finally start washing. I'm sure Bilmaga is ready to take them either way. ;)

loste
2nd July 2007, 18:07
no, fill me in please.
Do you mean the lawsuit?

cameland
3rd July 2007, 10:49
Well from what i remember its something like in ww2 the american govt imposed some cotton restrictions on clothing. So all unnecessary stitching was taken off. This included taking off the levi's backpocket arc stitching, so instead of putting the stitched arc, levi's painted the arcs on. So evisu kinda jacked that idea with the painted gull. Which many years ago to look a lot more like the levi's ww2 painted arc. That was also when evisu was called EVIS which we all know is a half pun on Levis since if you add an L onto evis you get Levi's.

LEVIS

You will see it a lot in repros, its quite a popular one. The main attractions are probably the flannel pockets and painted arcs though. Much like the Samurai 3000vx and Flat Head 3003.

That contest will be so cool. I'll PM you with a question...

My philosophy about dry denim is a little different from all those people with gigantic collections, although I do envy them for having enough money to get their hands on all those amazing jeans... ;)
The thing is, I don't think I would be satisfied wearing a nice pair of selvage jeans for maybe 2 months and then buy a new pair and so on. I'd be horrified if my jeans don't get at least a year of wear... I just think they should be worn a lot and I buy them mostly to see the fading come as far as possible and think, wow, these rock! And when you own 50 jeans orso you would be 50 years further from now before all of them would be as how I'd wish them to be. One can't have enough love (wearing attention) for all those jeans to be shared.
I'm not a real collector I guess. Maybe will be. Just happy I'm not for now. Simply can't afford it.

Keep up the good work with all those great collections guys!

I totally agree with you man. I myself have 3 pairs at the moment and when the Denime xx contest starts it will make 4 pairs. That will propably be enough for atleast 2-3 years.

I totally agree with you man. I myself have 3 pairs at the moment and when the Denime xx contest starts it will make 4 pairs. That will propably be enough for atleast 2-3 years.

Having said that i'm pretty sure that if I would be a really rich I surely would order some pair right away, or even better still, fly to japan and go for a denimhunt.

Yeah, all I got now is a RRDS and a SSLE. Has been enough for 2 years of wear and tear.
Just been pending for a contest jeans which I'll probably join soon.
4 pairs would indeed at the least keep me busy for 3 years.

The patch is nice for the black selvage ones, but I don't really like the black things, for Nudie that is.

I liken denim collecting to something similar to collecting baseball cards or comic books. You don't read every comic book you've ever owned every day. But they're there to appreciate if you want to. Some of the jeans out there are veritable works of art. I remember that photo series of the Iron Heart overdyed black 634S-B (which I missed the boat on). The selvage, the donut buttons, the stitching and hardware. Just awesome. You almost don't want to wear them. Take a look.

http://supertalk.superfuture.com/showpost.php?p=380231&postcount=227

For me, if there's a pair of jeans I like the look of, or something unique that I haven't got, or just something I just want to have, I'll just get them, even if I know I won't have time to wear them (not straight away, anyway). Plus, it's nice to know there are a myriad of choices once I retire a pair of jeans. I don't have to go on the hunt for one online, only to find out that the pair I really wanted sold out 6 months ago. (Hello Eternal 865 21oz, Studio D'Artisan D1293 21oz and the SDA X-26 Xmas special Wrangler Repro - I'm so f**king mad I didn't know about that one until it was too late) Here's some pics. Weep along side me, if you wheell.

Finally got around to posting a pic of my collection (to now). I had to borrow a good digital camera to take the shot, eitherwise it'd be all fuzzy, and difficult to make out which jean is which. Unfortunately, that's about it till I get myself a decent digital camera (in the far off future), so you'll have to put up with crappy phone camera shots from now on.

Sugarcane 1955, hands down, my most favourite pair. If there was a house fire and I could only save one pair of jeans, those would be it.

I've put the reasons why in an earlier post.

http://www.mynudies.com/forums/showpost.php?p=67794&postcount=9

@loste - I've got a pair of ALD RP on the way. My first ALD. Very curious to see what the denim is like in the flesh.

I'm almost in tears here indigo_junkie...
Well, I'm not, but I really understand your agony looking at those pairs you missed out on... There would be a slight comfort in knowing there will be always specials or limited editions you will get your hands on where others miss the boat.

I also understand everyones love, passion and collectors-eager (whatever...) about denim. If I simply had the money for more pairs I would certainly have had more, probably also just to own a pair of exquisite jeans which I'll probably not wear a lot. The facts are different though.
I'm just a humble student with a very humble cashflow, so buying most jeans I fancy would take up almost 4/5 of my monthly scolarship... Which would result in a, lovely pair of jans, but no food or beer for 3 weeks. Not a good thing IMO, especially the beer... ;)

indigo_junkie
16th July 2007, 12:24
Trust me, in my student days, I wore $50 jeans and spent the equivalent of a pair of Nudie every 2nd week on beer (round after round after round, aiy buoys? ;)). It's funny, I think I stumbled onto this denim addiction at exactly the right time. Just in a time of my life where I have (not a huge amount of) means, but no real responsibilities (yet). But I've outgrown massive drinking sprees and (for a lack of a better word) wenching.

I couldn't even have afforded those X-26's back when they first came out, and being a complete noob, I had no idea about rakuten and proxies etc... And this was way before Cameland with his excellent Japan Shopping thread. I got most of my information from poring through pages and pages of posts on Sufu. That being said, I have gotten a lot of jeans very quickly. My entire collection of dry denim only started with my RRDS less than a year ago.

It may rankle me that I missed out on those jeans, but there are so many more coming out. The denim industry is only growing bigger and bigger. So don't worry DrZ. Those jeans will be waiting for you in the future. :)

Peace.

DrZ
16th July 2007, 12:38
Hahah, yeah well, it's not that I am an abusive drinker, I just hate it when I can't afford even the earliest needs ;).

Anyway, I think I don't need a lot of jeans to have fun with them either, I just like it the way it is going now and I'll see where me and my collection will end up.

It's crazy btw, a collection of this quality and quantity in less than a year. Not my kind of thing as I said before, I really want to wear them for now. When I have money, I might spend more on just having more jeans.

Thats alot of denim dave!

All these collections are really nice. I think there are so many good brands out there choosing a new pair of jeans is kinda hard.

I've got my Skull 5010xx 6x6s on their way from japan, my SJDJ, TFDBC, and a pair of black coated Lee Selvedge. A modest collection, I will say. But growing slowly. I bought three pairs last year, and the skulls to start off this year in my move to the Jap denims.

Next is a tough choice. PBJ 007s?

I should really sit down and actually figure out what direction I want to go with my collection. Right now, it's just a mis-mash of different brands, styles, cuts and denim. Although I do admit, I'm starting to lean more toward repro cut jeans. My current collection to date (jeans bought in the last 6 months)

http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z116/sixquid/coll03.jpg

The original photo had 13 pairs of jeans in it. The superstitious side of me would have gone nuts thinking about it all the time, so here's another, lildavid style, only 11 pairs.

Top to bottom:

SDA D-01
Fullcount 105NA
Flathead 5100
Stronghold Flame Denim
Imperial Black Kings
Ande Whall Streaky Grifters
Ande Whall Cougar #1
Sugarcane SC40301A
PBJ XX-006
Eternal 811
Samurai S510XX 21oz.

Samurai S5000VX (rotation), Denime XX 1951 (current)

In my closet in the back drawer: Sufu660, Warehouse 1001XX, Samurai S0500XX, SDA-103, SDA-003, Nudie SSDC, Denime XX Type II, Pace-006, ALD Royal Pant, DJ501XX, DJ HR-01.

My previous collection. Jeans bought between January and September of last year, now in semi-permanent storage.

http://users.tpg.com.au/tchoi17/coll01.jpg
Blue Blood Dry Goods, Nobody Selvage, Levi STF, RRDS, Earnest Sewn McQueen, Ande Whall Cougar, Imperial Duke, SExIH01, KMW 1980, PBJ XX-007, Eternal 868, SC41955, SC40200, Samurai S710XX.

I now officially own a pair of black jeans (gasp!) I should change my name to Partial Indigo Junkie.

Edit: I've gotten rid of my Blue Bloods. It's the pair the tailor went and cut the selvage off when I went to get them tapered. I couldn't even look at them anymore, so off to good-will they went. My STFs went out as well, along with a pair of Wranglers 13MWZs (too small - or I've gotten too fat).

Not retired, just in storage. I may pull them out in the future, but I've got other jeans I want to work on first. The SExIH01s are pretty much retired though. They're not fading like I want them to, just turning bluer with each wash. No combs or anything.

Wow, that a hell of a lot of jeans! How are the Stronghold jeans? I'm very intrigued by those..

The Stronghold jeans are sized really big. I got a pair of 32 and the waist measures 36 post soak! I thought it would shrink more. I'm thinking about giving it another soak. I wanted them to fit a comfortable 34. They aren't slim jeans by any means, though it feels like it's got a lower rise than my 32 ALD RP.

I don't have my pair of RP handy, but the thigh on a 32 Stronghold is 13.5inches. Plenty of room. This is Stronghold's regular straight fit, not the slim fit (not too hot for that cut, personally).

So I just managed to **** up my third pair of dry jeans since I got into dry denim. The story began 2 years ago when i first got my SJDG (31x34) these where my gateway into drydenim pair. I wore them for 6 months before washing and once I washed them they got way to tight for me to wear. I started working out at this time also so my legs had gotten considerably larger since I bought my SJDG. For my next pair I went with Edwin rainbow selvedges. Same thing happened once again. Come hot wash they become to tight. I yesterday, you can never guess what happended, I spilled soy sauce all over my Stevens and had to wash them. And yes you guessed right.... They are now too tight for me to wear :D

So I have managed to wear in three pairs that I will never wear again. I'm now left with 2 pairs (Denime and SC) With these two pairs I managed to get sufficient legspace so that I can wear them after washing also.

How about you guys. Any similiar stories??
