jeans collectors are hard to understand...

not really, I can relate to their urge to collect, however, I'm sad when I see untouched jeans in the closeth, makes me want to wear them...

welll heres my thing
there are two different types of people
people who snowboard
and people who are snowboarders
yah get me?

I'm a snowboarder. I quit my job in January to snowboard everyday until the Northern Hemi winter finished. Then I went back home to NZ and did a full Winter there.

Now I'm back in the 'real world' working again. But hey, I got a job with a company that moved me to Canada so let the shred continue! I actually rode in my Ralfs on a spring day last month. Comfy, warm, fun. My white straps are now indigo though :-o

superslim_zac
6th November 2008, 16:46
i have zac's pajama's, left them in my room.

I still wear my ralfs every now and then...mainly at nights or w/e...its a refreshing change to my daaark Joes and PBJ's

thats where I left those!

And agreed - a long time before you should wash those.

or you could go with something less 'mainstream'
although, it's good to remember from time to time that only people on here and sufu and the likes know these brands :p

when did we get to the point where these brands were mainstream? Maybe Canes just because they sell them in streetwear shops but sams? pbj? They are "mainstream" on this website, but hell, judging by DJ's pre order wave from here, is there such thing as under the radar?

superslim_zac
6th November 2008, 18:22
well Tiro said that himself. It's only mainstream in the online denim communities. The chances of walking past someone with the same jeans as you is slim to none (for japanese brands)

Durrty Boy
6th November 2008, 19:59
I saw someone on here say they didnt want Sams because they were too popular?! Before i stumbled upon this website and SUFU I, like most non-denim junkies, knew nothing of Japanese denim!

yup when you cant get enough satisfaction impressing your friends, it's time to impress the denim communities :P

Although I dont impress my friends actually hehe.
"WHAT you bought 200 euro jeans!!!?? And they are just blue?"
"Yeah, but I wont need a next pair for a year"
"Sure, what brand is it?"
"Samurai!"
"WTF ROFL you paid 200 euros for a brand no one has ever heard off??"

Hard to understand for some people denim comes in quality as well ;-)

Well Samurai is extremely popular, mostly because people see so many results, which spurs them in the direction of Samurais (or Skulls, or PBJ's). Brands like Somet, Ande Whall, Momotaro, Warehouse, etc, are less popular, and less "mainstream" as Tiro called it. However, in educated forums, members don't neglect brands because they simply aren't popular, rather, they just prefer the fits (ie. Nudie) or the grade of denim (ie. Samurai) offered in the more popular brands..

Unless they just listen to what everyone else tells them without undertaking their own research and buys Samurai because people say it's dope.

Just under three months, washed three times:

You can see similar fading patterns in Lot 2001, but in a much more vintage way:

^^

Amazing progress so far.

Do you wear them cuffed or uncuffed?? I'm still pondering about getting a pair.

Are there any differences in lenght between the no.1 2000 and 2001 cuts.

And how tall are you btw :D

CrashTestBrummie
9th November 2008, 14:39
Cheers Opeth!

The lengths are the same, around 34.5" after shrinkage, although I made sure that I stretched the legs out well after the initial soak and first wash.

And I wear them uncuffed, I'm 183cm so they'd look too short cuffed.

And for what it's worth, I have a preference for Lot 2001 although I couldn't tell you exactly why... :-)

I wear 'em hard, so wash them accordingly. The No.1 indigo is described by Evisu as 'Colorfast', so you know it's going to hold well.

While I recently posted my progress on these about two weeks ago, it gets a bit monotonous when all the pictures are of the jeans lying flat. Bedridden and bored, I went on a feverish, fever-inspired venture to find a well-lit location near my dormitory where I could shamelessly photograph myself. The result:

See, I feel pretty much the same. I understand that denim of this quality will hold its indigo far better than say...a pair of Nudies, but I still can't help but want to prolong my wear for as long as possible. I think I'll wait at least two or three more months.

I will recommend a wash tho. They are just going to start falling apart more and more. It's not great for the denim for them to get so filthy and never get washed.

Mr Jones RRDS and RISC EVISU: I just admire them, keep them unwashed as long as possible, they'll turn out better and better believe me. Once they are washed you can perhaps see your whiskers a little bit better, but the dirty shiny color look of the unwashed raw indigo color will have disapeared for ever.

Cameland: Your Skull still look really sharp although they are washed now and the shiny indigo color look as gone, but all the whiskers around the knee and at the bottoms are just gorgious!!!

hey marshal, did ya pick up anything good for black friday in the ATL area? I didn't even bother going near Lenox, figured traffic was gonna be insane.. Was hoping Urban on ponce would have something special but nope :\

Dresscodes in Decatur is having a great sale at the moment, unfortunately they have very little left as far as denim goes. I just picked up a pair of Kicking Mule Workshop 1980 for $165 and they had a pair of APC Rescues for like $93.

Also check out Standard at Lenox Mall. This is there brand new store and its right next to the new NikeTown. Frashod is a great guy and runs an awesome store.

Sorry to disrupt the thread, I just never see people talking about Atlanta and never thought many people were into denim in the area.

Congratulations!
In the Lee's I get sz 28" in 1947 I've had both 30" and 32". The 30" were serious hip crushers, It got to the point were I got gall on my hips. The 32s' are snug in the waist and kind of relaxed in the legs. Authentic fitting.

These ones are the old quality ones, greener cast and a lot less starched, wish I had older pictures of these so I could show you the difference...

they fit more or less like the 201's do on me but a lot bigger at the waist. I had to wear them with a belt, otherwise they would've fallen off.

My waist measured at the bellybutton with measuring tape is 30" (76 cm) and I am 171 cm tall.

^Very nice, lildavid!

Here are mine, nowhere near as spectacular yet... s710bk19oz, I soaked these september 4 and started wearing them shortly after that, so this is the not-quite-three-months-yet update..

Whiskers are starting to show some nice fades:
http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/2391/pc010078rv3.jpg

If these combs stay where they are after an upcoming soak/wash, I think they'll turn out great:
http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/5530/pc010080kr9.jpg

This angle makes me look big-assed, but shows the color and fades pretty accurately:
http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/9172/pc010082xy4.jpg

I will probably soak or wash these before the end of the year.

i've seen those ES' posted somewhere before...you probably have. I post on sufu, hb, iss, ot...

So this place in LA will give you a brand new pair of nudies if you wear yours for 24 months without a wash, then give it to them because they will sell it as "vintage".

And now I wonder, is it worth it?
how are they going to be able to get tabs on you? deposit? I would hate to put that much work into a pair unless I was getting hella paid.

**** I've been away from this forum for too long. some real nice progress. cameland, what skulls are those? are they the 5010xx from that contest a while back? those other skulls looked sick as well. may have to invest in a pair.

I got a pair of RRDS with roughly 15 months of wear, washed after 13 months when I spilled milk on them. I still went about a week and a half before the sour milk odor got too much for me. I should probably post some pictures soon. when I get a chance I suppose.
