Hi!
Although Sukajan (which means "Yokosuka Jumper" We, Japanese, spell it incorrectly) is not everybody's cup of tea, I own one which I bought 10 year ago (sigh....those were the days....) It's made by Toyo-Enterprise which also releases jeans and clothes under the names of Buzz Rickson's or Sugar Cane.

The jumper is reversible - this is the Dragon side. As you can see, two dragons and the US Air Force logo are embroidered on the blue satin body.

This is the Tiger side. A huge black tiger is embroidered on the silver satin body.

I don't wear this everyday, but sometime I do with my RRDS when I feel like it with an "oriental" mood!
I often wear the Tiger side more than the Dragon side. :D

I really like the jacket allthough i could not pull of the style myself.
It is a brand i had never heard of before, maybe i've seen someone wear such a jacket on the streets once, but i never knew they were reversible.
Some companies like Replay copied that style of jackets some years ago.

Whay would you have to live somewhere else to wear this jacket? If you dig it, you dig it, if not, than not.

I like it. If I had seen it before i bought my other jackets, I bought it. Don't be afraid of reactions!

I'm not afraid of reactions. I'd just feel so out of place in the big forest I live in walking around in a satin jacket. But if i lived in a big city with a lotta neon lights and stuff that jacket would stick to me like glue!

Thanks for the comments, guys!

>Bobbejaan
You're right! Even in Japan, somehow many punks or gangs like wearing Sukajan there! :P

>cameland
The wallet's from KC's.

>AsherC
I'm sorry but it was ten years ago so I don't remember how much it was! I seem to recall that it cost me an arm and a leg though. Ah! American Classics in Covent Garden used to have Toyo (SugarCane) products.

Why are the Sukajan's on some websites also called Japanese Souvenir Jackets?
How about this denim Sukajan! 8)

Cough, cough! I've got a terrible cold.....:(

Why are the Sukajan's on some websites also called Japanese Souvenir Jackets?

The story about Sukajan is, there was (there still is) a huge US navy base in the place called Yokosuka (hence the name Sukajan) near Tokyo, and when American sailors went back to their country, they would ask some local tailors to embroider something "Japanese" motifs - a map of Japan, dragons, tigers for instance, on the back of their jackets as souvenir. That's how it started.

We, Japanese call Sukajan, but native Americans often call it souvenir jackets. I hope it helps you!

Cough, cough.....:(

Do they ship to U.S. and if not is there a U.S. distributor. This stuff is so sweet.

go on superfuture.com and ask 2000db to ship them to you. the shipping rate is a flat 25usd and he takes 10% finders fee. hes the cheapest and fastest out there. good luck!

Bless you Naoto
Thanks for the background information, i was just curious for the origin of the Sukajan.
Already thought it was some sort of a clash between Japanese and American style by the looks of them.

u guys think this sukajan is a little feminine due to the chery blossoms on the sleeve http://www.rockstar-parking.com/s3305-big-e.html

Not really but it gave me a matador-esque (?) feeling. I don't know if that's good or bad

well..honestly yeah...in that fashionista sort of way. But when buying...if you feel iffy about it...look for something that's a better fit...it's out there.
